i got 20's in the rear and 22's up front. There will be some top speed lose, but not an amazing amout. I am just curious, why are you going so small. The size that i run are about the average size.

18/20 setup is basically a common MX setup. It isnt as good for trails, or pits/dunes. But is do-able....20/22 is more for the rough terrain trail rider.

Just depend on the riding you do. The common MX set up is as stated, 18x20. I was no motocrosser, mostly trails and my freestyle jumps in my backyard. I had the 18 in the back, 20 in the front and really like it for both. I think it was my tires (Kenda Gnarly's) that loved so much but i felt the 18s got the job done. They were 4 ply and got the job done. I enjoyed the acceleration more than the top speed because i would have rather got to 3rd or 4th gear faster than topped out on a trail. In my opinion, tire size doenst matter at much as the style of tire. If you don't need light tires (trail riding, duning, ect) go for a heavy 4 or 6 ply 20 in back, and 22 up front. If you do recreational either set up is fine, most would go for the trail option. The friday night motocrosser, saturday day afternoon trail rider may want to opt for the set up i had. 4 ply 18's in back and 4 ply 20s in front. Not only did i like the versitility of my set, it looked pretty sick too
