i have a 86 LT250R and i bout it thinking of racing it in the c class and moving up threw the classes of Neatv and Nats. im having second thoughs about racing it. if i sell it im goin to get a z400. i would love to do a custom front end but i dont have a welder and dont know how to weld. i have wanted a LT sence i knew what quads were and i finaly bout one. like i said its a 86 with a .80 over bore (255) racing reeds, i have resoures for the motor and some suspension but not realy the front end mods. i still am having trouble getting spark so im replacing the whole ignition with a racing one. the motor is not the best for power but i could figure a way to get the power out if it. it has a fmf fatty and silencer, wisco piston, racing reeds, K&N air filter. im not shure if this quad of mine will hold up in racing and will it keep up with the new 450's? I raced my dads z400 last year and it out ran the 450s and im hoping theres some way of making my LT run the same but im not shure there is. Let me know what you all think.

port it, shave the head
bore it up to a 265 or by a big bore 265 kit

a arms full flight or wicked $365
rec elka front shocks $450
or works front shocks $ 300 w/o rezzy
400 w/ rezzy

g force axle or dura blue axle 200-300 bucks

suspention then motor remember that

/\ that would be pretty quick

stroke it out a mm or 2

its bored the bigest it will bore, ill have my othere head shaved that i have and have my othere cyinder re sleaved and ported. i cant find any bore bore kits for it or stoker cranks but if there was any for it i would buy one. from what i have read elka dosnt make 86 lt250r shocks only 87-92. the front end of this quad has the same shock langth as a 300ex but not the same mounts or i would use my 300ex shocks. im goin to put 400ex rear hud on it and that would bring me to 48 inches with skinny tires and with race tire it would be more like 50. the front end it what in more wored about. thanks for the help.

Which 450?

Yea dude the LT front end sucks. I think i talked to you on e2s before. I'm thinking about buying some full flights and some works shocks. I dont race though. Honestly you would be better off with a z400 I think. I like my lt because they are probably one of the rarest old racing quads. I just trail ride so I'm not worried about jumping and everything. And mine is bored out.... I did the formula for the volume of a cylinder and My cc's are around 270. I wanna have my head shaved, or get a cool head for it though. I've done everything else I can. Port and polish, full FMF exhaust, 38mm flat slide carb. I'm putting some heavy duty clutch springs in this week actually, because of all the power and my fat *** making it slip. Clutch disks are still in good shape

call them up about your motor, send it to them, have them make it a screamer, same cc's just better work.

they have new cylinder national kits.... alot of $$$ but youd have the fastest lt250r at your race for sure... call them up, and switch your pipe to a paul turner/fat boy for more power,,,, you pick ware you want it to hit on the web site

Which 450? and bigbadbubba Thanks for the help. im mostlikly goin to keep it unless i find a good deal on a z400. im goin to email tcs and see if the make the shocks for a 86 and for a-arms im trying to figure what to go with burgard at 400, herrman at 500, or full flight at 385. in my opinion herman and burgard is prolly the best choices of them. looks like im saving up for some top $ a-arms and shocks. my rear end is fine for now untill i brake the swing arms and then ill prolly got lsr. thanks for all the help. its a work in progress. Which 450? whats ur name on ES2?

no problem

here would be a perfect quad

get the hermann, burgard i herd aren't so great in the blaster scene. so i would think like wise for the lt250r

for motor just call duncan racing and ask for a kick *** motor and the works

tcs has lt250r front shocks for every year if i remember correctly, call up works also they have shocks for every year , im almost positive, they were suzuki's main shock sponsor back in the 80's

hermann a arms are top notch, full flight are a cheap in expensive way, but the way there designed is also not the smartest. they fail alot after jumping. if you take a look on www. l t r 4 5 0 h q .com and search full flight you'll see what i mean.

with the duncan motor though, you would need there pipe for max power. fmf 2 stroke pipes arn't that great.. there basicly stock with some sound, and mabye more pull but not so great in the #'s department.

if you are handy make yourself an aluminum air box that willl help with air flow and over all power

get a wider offset front rim , even if there cheap to widen it, but i recomend beedlock in the rear at least.

your looking at 3-4k to have a 450 killer

ill look in to the tcs and works shocks. i think im goin to get herrmann but not untill i have riden the bike on the track and raced it a few times. At $575 the should be the best a-arms for my application. i dont think duncan makes a motor for a 86 because its case induction and no power valve like the later years. theres only two pipe's i know of for the 86 is the FMF gold sires Fatty ( thats what i have) and the DG national Pipe.

you can always call duncan, they have some of the best mechanics working for them. They could work around any motor you send them. You dont technicly need a kit for a big bore, just have them make it a 265 ( so you can race with the 450's ), and do the works to the cyclinder, and have them put a stroker in.

tcs are great shock btw you will be very happy.
