Hi Everyone,

I'm new to this forum. I am considering buying a Polaris Sportsman 800 ATV for fun mainly, but I also have a very long driveway that plow companies charge $100+ to plow. Does anyone know up to how much snow this ATV can plow?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Pete

I own 3 polaris snowmobiles, 2 polaris atvs, 2 polaris jetskis and i absolutly love there product ive never had a problem. Alot of people on here have never actualy owned a polaris but are biased towards them and make up bs about them. Now to answer ur question about plowing a sportsman 800 would be perfect, polaris utility quads weigh alittle more then the rest of the pack so there great for towing and plowing, plus the 800 is a very powerful atv. My friend plows his driveway with a 1998 kawi 300 4x4 so im sure a 800 sportsman will have no trouble at all.

Polaris quads are most likely the best to plow with. There weight just eats through snow. Plus you have fun doing it. The newer Polaris quads are just as reliable as any other. Most people who dog Polaris are talking about the older models. The 07's are even better as they worked the clutches even better. Very good power for the weight. Plus has the nicest ride around.

my dad has an older model polaris sport (400cc) witch he doesn't ride anymore. It blew up 3 times with around 8-14 hours on each rebuild. It has had nothing but problems since he bought it. I do not reccomend Polaris quads for this reason. Also, why is there reverse on a 2-stroke? Its basically throwing snowmobile motors and trannys in a quad. :huh

I seen this thread titled can it plow thinking you were talking about like plowing a field to plant tomatoes or something. Still trying to get used to all the snow talk...Remember i'm from Texas

I rode one of those Polaris 800's a few months ago, not impressed. Too heavy, too much engine for the suspension, not very manueverable . Just not right IMO, I'd go smaller personally.

you coud prolly pull a house down with one. haha jus the weight and the power will give you what you need. i personally think it would work very well. you dont want somehting thats gonna be too light to push anyhting and the other option i was thinkin of was the oulander 800 but i think there in a whole new ball park when it comes to price. i dont think youll regret it if you buy the polaris, imho we.ve had alot of them and i have nothin but good things to say. express 300, 400 a scrambler 400, 2 sportsman 500's and a magnum 325. all no problems with the machine just errors on my part....i stand behind polaris:eek2:

To everyone who thinks the Polaris' are pieces, i think you are all wrong. You guys are talking about your friends or, you know someone. But, they either dont know what they are doing or the just suck at keeping it maintained. My Polaris 4x4 is the **** and would never trade it for any other 4x4. Its hot and yes it does an amazing job at plowing. Had to take it out yesterday to push that heavy watery snow. That thing is a beast.

I put a plow on my uncle's Sportswoman 800 for him, it does a decent job. It's kind of alkward, the front shocks need to be cranked all the way up and it needs weight on the back... You also almost need 3 hands to operate the thing because of the rev limiter and having to hold the overide button just to move in reverse, shift, steer and adjust the plow at the same time...:D

how much snow do you plow, because over here when we get around a 1 foot- 1 foot and 1/2, mine plows just fine.
