i don't remember who it was but someone posted a while ago about someone telling him there rappy was capable of hitting more then 100 mph...well whether or not it was capable is very questionable but possible is very much so here the POSSIBLE numbers for a 2002+ 660 (i don't have the numbers for the 700 to do it with) i used these specs
Bore:100mm
Stroke:84mm (these two would put it at 660cc perfect)
Front Sprocket:13
Rear Sprocket:40
Tire Height:20
RPMs:10000 (yes i know very high)

top speed for each gear in mph
1st:35.9
2nd:55.5
3rd:74.9
4th:88.4
5th:102.4

i wold think u would need a bigger front sprocket then a 13....almost any speed is possible with changing the gearing and rear tire size..so who really cares?

these are realistic numbers though obviously any speed is possible with gearing changes but i'm staying realistic and the front will not go over 16 and the rear will not go over 44 (although you can go higher on both but this is supposed to be for an every day beater machine)

now stop bashing and go away

02-16-2007, 02:05 PM
i wasnt bashing anyting, im just saying sure a 100 mph is possible, i just know where this thread is going...itll go to a heated debate...HP numbers will get thrown in, and somehow or another turn into a 2 stroke vs 4 stroke debate....have fun :D

lol i'm waiting for that to happen cuz it really is just a sad illusion that hp gets you more mph when all it does is get you to your top speed faster and as for the 2stroke 4stroke thing man 4strokes all the way they are way more dependable especially when being revved out to top speed

let me see that 100 mph raptor in the woods, or on a track where it counts.goin fast in a straight line is fun...for about 5 seconds!

yes just about everybody in the entire world understands what your talking about and yes top speed is for the most part useless but your way off topic i was just proving something for a thread that posted like last week or something like that

Too bad your numbers don't include things such as wind resistance, rolling resistance, and drag on the bike. We don't live in a vacuum...

theres no way it does over 100 with 20in rear tires and a 13t front sprocket. maybe in the back of ur pickup. if you had a larger front sprocket and bigger rears like 22's then maybe i can see that.

thats what i was thinking

it would take a very long time to hit 100 if it can

like i said these are the possible numbers you would obviously have to adjust them according to conditions or just add more hp to the bike which will allow it to overcome them and no you don't need more gear or bigger tires these are the real numbers

to increase your top speed you have 2 change your gearing or tires or both.

dude are you lost or just illiterate i already said that but in conditions such as a headwind you would need more hp to gain the top speed you coul get with nothing hindering you

agreed. well im going to go ride my trx 90 that does 102.4 in 4th gear. this thread is just going to get bad. and like someone else said lets see that craptor hit 100 in the trails hAVE fun riding

o yeah whats the gearing on that beast

trxwannbe

and for those of you with no perception what so ever i do know that trx90s don't go that fast

Raptors with that gearing wont hit that speed, my friend has that gearing on his 05, it goes 75mph give or take a bit....

But on my 400ex I have a 20t front sprocket with stock rear and I hit about 150 going up a hill against the wind during a hurricane on the 5th of November during a leap year at the time of vernal equinox with monkeys flying from my ***....

and for those who wonder about these things a raptor doing 80,000 rpms with a 20 tooth front and 60 tooth rear has a top speed of 1,176 mph

this thread is useless...so now i am goin to go ride my 83HP blaster with 20/30 gearing that hits 119.738543 in 4th. but i have never had it in 6th:(

troutman that sounds wild

actaully hp does play a rather big factor in how fast your quad can go simply because at 100mph the wind resistance is great and a stock motor would not be able to even come close to pulling the quad. just thought i would add that when you are coming to speed hp does play a roll.

haha this thread is garbage

I know you should have been there.. esp. since hurricanes are rare in november, we dont have big hills in FL, and the vernal equinox happens in the spring... but the monkeys came out easily thanks to some KY... that was a wild ride...

my 04 450r motor with filter, cam, and slip on pipe I got to pull 80mph. But I have to admit it was lame. I geared it back doun to about 76 and its more fun to ride. But my summer time mx set up allows it to top out at 73.

I run 16/46 gearing and hit 165mph....ive still got about 1000revs left till the limiter, but im drag limited.....and im on a 600rr:p
