Yes, plastic is fine. The only thing you have to worry about is powdercoated parts. Although it won't "eat it away", over time the clear coat will become dull if you leave it on there long enough. Leaving it on for 5-10 minutes is fine, but no longer than an hour:p

Riding in the woods, a motor is going to get stained over time. It doesn't matter what you put on it. When the mud gets on the hot motor, all it does is bake it on there.

I use simple green, straight, after every ride. The only reason I sold my enclosed was because I couldn't hose it off at the carwash on the way home. And by the time I get home, I don't feel like doing it:D

I've seen some people use aluminum acid. It gets it clean alright, but turns your whole motor black.

Do you scrub your motor down after you spray it on? Or let it sit and then wash it off?

After a normal day of riding, just letting it sit and hosing it off will get most of the dirt off. After a mud race, a little scrubing might be required to get in between the cracks and crevices.

Simple Green is corrosive!!!! I use simple Green for AIRCRAFT. The Aircraft formula does not corrode, and cuts through grease and mud much better than regular Simple Green. If you live by an airport with a Maintenance facility, stop in and see if someone can order some in. I get it at Port Columbus. (Lane Aviation). I buy it by the gallon. It was developed for use mainly for landing gear cleaning , and to clean dirt and brake dust off of wheels.

Does simple green work well for the entire bike then? like rear axle, rear brake assembly, chain.. front engine sprocket and stuff? Im in teh process of doing a total tune up/replace worn parts, quick disconnects, bolts, and stuff, so im wondering what to use to do on the entire bike...

Anyone never use Engine Brite Engine Degreaser?

have 2 things in your garage at all times.....
simple green and WD-40

after a good wash spray the plastic down with wd.
let it sit for a lil while then wipe off the extra.

the spray degreasers are just deisel fuel in a can.
and they do work OK. simple green is better.
