I have a 2005 trx 450r and race motorcross. i am putting a new piston in my motor and want to know a few things. If i get a JE 12:1 piston will i have to get a bigger cam and will i have to mix 50/50 race gas with 93? and what would be better a 11.5:1 or the 12:1

You can run a 12:1 off premium pump gas, but that is high as I would prolly go pump wise.

You don't need a new cam but a aftermarket cam (hotcams , HRC , sparks) would work great with a new piston. You will notice a difference with just the piston but with the cam & piston is will be alot more. With a 12:1 you should be ok with 93 gas.

yeah 12:1 is fine on high Pump gas. And if you can spare the change buy a aftermarket cam to really get everything out of your piston.

bladwin 14:1 is the only way to go, The smell of race gas out the exhaust nothing like it. run 110 octane and the hrc cam you will get you all the power you need

you can run a 12.5 to 1 on 93 pump gas, as for cam, 04-06 crf, web, mega cycle, or hrc is your best bet. if you have a lot of hours on you quad you need to check your valve guides and seats.

i have seen several heads with the seats flaking out (the material that honda used for the seats are to hard and tend to flake). the valve guides, its very important to check for wear!
