What exactly are the advantages of the 400ex a arms and shocks versus the 300ex a arms and shocks?

more width (better handling) more travel (better landings)

Doing this conversion using stock 400ex a arms widens the front how much?

search for this stuff its been covered hundreds of times, the arms are about equal to +2 arms. you will need to get 400ex or 250r tie-rods for this to work, you will also need to buy a shock relocator bracket, the 400ex shocks are longer so they will not mount to the factory 300 mount.

the clincher for me was when one of the stock 300EX shocks broke...for what they wanted for a new one, i got the entire 400ex front end, including a-arms, tie rods, shocks and the relocation bracket.

300ex parts prices are 2-3 times that of the 400ex...
