Anyone in LongIsland or east coast riding tonignt in the snow???

We're going out tonight @8 for some night riding, hopefully its snowin by then!!!

ill be out riding here in riverhead. getting out at 8 would be beautiful but i doubt it will be started by then. im hoping the roads will be white and ready by 11-midnight so i can ride till 1am or so. ive been waiting for a storm all year so if getting out there at midnight is what i gotta do, im ready for it.

im just hoping we can get some -snow only- enough to cover the streets before the nasty ice and mix comes. my stock piped 400ex is backed up in my garage waiting to be started and ridden straight out....if i took out my piped 450 i'd have everyone within a mile radius awake at 1am and thatd be bad. lets just pray we get some real snow for at least a few hours before the sloppy stuff comes.

well that sure was a waste. prepared my quad, got my gear ready, waited until 11pm before i threw in the towel.....woke up to half an inch and rain and now its pouring cats and dogs.

We went out night ridin from 8 to 11, went through some power lines, the fishbowl, and some trails. Its too back today is VDay, ridin tonight would be better... I would never hear the end of it if I went out with the boys tonight!

Are u allowed to ride the streets on LI when it snows, I used to live there, didnt have an atv at the time, but a friend down there just bought one, and said they are legal on the roads when there is snow, is that correct?

I think it is legal only if they declare a snow emergancy in your area. Because then the roads are closed to cars?

i just got back from a week vacation in canada and drove alongside a legal groomed snowmobile trail for about 25 miles. why cant l.i. give us a trail system!!!!!


might be getting a little snow storm the next day or two....if the roads are white its no mercy for me, cops or no cops ill be out.

on the legal issue, no it isnt legal to ride the streets but in my town it seems to be SLIGHTLY less enforced than western l.i. towns. i have been chased once by a state trooper but have passed numerous town police with no trouble.....give them a wave and hope for the best....if they spin a u-ie, get on the throttle and go.

it takes alot to get a state of emergancy, but if it is declared it is a very good chance that you can ride the streets all day with no problems. i remember we got one on long island a few years ago and news 12 was showing their video of the l.i.e. and a pack of like 25 snowmobiles rode past doing 100+.

The snow emergency thing sounds right to me, I kinda remember somthing like that when I lived there. But to just be able to ride because there is snow on the roads didnt sound right.

Thats why off roading is dying on Long Island, I heard they found a kid in East Moriches yesterday that hit a tree, he was outside for like 12 hours and almost died of exposure.
