which year 05 or 06?

I am planning on buying a 2005 2006 or 2007 honda 450r. my cousin has a 05 with a full curtis sparks exhaust, nerfs and a few other goodies for sale for $4,500. However, I have read in several articles that the 2006 has a bunch of improvements over the 2005 including getting more power from the motor. would it be worth buying the 05 for less money (since its already modded) or would it be smarter to just buy a 06 or newer bike?

Depends on what you plan to do with it. There are tons of threads that compare the two, do a search. If your gonna ride it and that's it, get the 06-07. If your gonna set up a full blown racer, consider the 04-05.

I just wonder what it is that makes it mod for mod faster ?
