Alright i have a few qustions i am getting tired of my front end and was thinking about some 450r front shocks to tied me over untill i can save up enough cash for a real set up!

I have herd alot of talk about GT thunder revaulving and building shocks. would it be worth it to get this shocks revalved for my weight even though the geometry will be different on the 400ex.

What will the turn over and price be like?

Can they do springs to like triple rates for example for n e thing along those lines?

thanks

gt thunder will re-build the 450r shocks to right correct lengths so that they will be right for a 400ex, well worth the money

its 395 for everything on the front shocks which includes respring and revalve, and converts them into dual rates i think. also to compinsate for the front i suggest getting the rear shock serviced too along with a new linkage. that is 345 which includes revlve, respring and linkage; or 740 for all three shocks done with a new linkage

I had MX-Tech do mine and I love them. I think they charge around $400 to do the conversion too. They make the shocks triple rate with zero preload. They're great to work with and have great turnaround time. Definitely worth the money.

More springs doesn't mean a better ride....

...and zps is old technology.

agreed, more springs usually means a lack of progressive valving

What would you consider new technology?

It's all about what's inside the shock...

I think people just see them in the pages of Dirtwheels and get crazy ideas about how much better they must be. Talk to anybody that's ever had ELKAs sent to LAZ to have them changed to dual rate. They'll tell you that they ride so much better with just two springs and the correct valving.

yes, usually more springs= crappy valving, it just saves the mfg.'s *** when you ride on them with 3 or 4 prog. springs

I would be one of those people.

Some people steered away from them when I sold them. Since they had less springs. Probably figured they wouldn't be as cool since there shock body wasn't full of springs.

I've noticed that as well. When I've seen the GT conversion elkas for sale it seems that people think they're not as nice as ones that are all jumbled up with springs. If only they knew:rolleyes:
