Anyone have a modified carb? I was thinking about saving a couple bucks and have Sparks modify my stock. Any feedback on this? I just wonder if it is worth it or if the 450 for an FCR is the way to go.

The FCR will give you much better performance.

All i gotta say is for $450 it better give u alot better performance!!!! lol, that much for a carb, how much is it to get one of cannondales eletronic ones???? lol

I do the carb mods also, they are fine on a stock to slightly modified motor. On a larger displacement motor you are wasting your time by not going to a larger carb like the FCR. The modified carb is good for the money you will gain power but no matter what you do to it there will always be that lag in it compaired to the FCR, Lectron, or Quicksilver. So for your 440 buy the FCR and you will be happy.

FYI,
If you know of anyone wanting a stock carb modified I do it for $100.00.

And yes the Cannondales are fuel injected.

What is done to the carb to modify it? What gains are noticed?

The bulk of the mod. is enlarging the bore of the carb. in certain areas. You will see more mid and much more top.

Everyone balks at the $400-450 pricetag of the FCR, but no one says a word about a similar price for an exhaust system.... That, I do not understand.....

Marketing, I guess...

what areas in the bore of the carb do you enlarge?
