Ok guys don't laugh i finally got around to trying to get the R started. And guess what it won't start! The plug seems to be dry. There is gas getting to the float though. What could be the proablem?

Should i put a couple drops on gas in the spark plug whole to get things going? This thing been sitting for almost 9 months and everything is brand new.

Any ideas.?

Do you have spark? I went through this nightmare on my 87 after having the motor built with a 350PV. The compression is so high I couldn't kick it over fast enough to generate spark. Try towing it to start it. I have to rotate the motor so the piston is just past tdc and then really give it a strong full kick. Now that it's broke in some it starts better but it took a while to learn the routine it needed. I have to use some throttle also or it may not light, my plug also didn't show much fuel on it.

If you have spark I would take the bowl off the carb and check the jets and passages for any "gum" build up, setting that long any gas in the carb shuold have evaporated and left the oil that has started to dry out causing the "gum".

The carb is a brand new 38a/s. So it never sat with gas in it. I will try those ideas tommror.

I have the 38/AS also, turn the idle screw in all the way and use some throttle as I said before when you try to start it. I always have to open the throttle a little to get mine started.
