Just got my 525, man this thing is fast. Love it so far..

Anyone else having a problem with the seat coming unlatched? Any known fix?

Also, when in neutral, and the clutch out, it makes a strange deep rattle, not to loud though. Goes away with the clutch in.

I want to get some black nerf bars, but keep the stock heel guards, and rear skid plates. I am having trouble finding some. Any suggestions on where to get these?

Thanks

I have an 06 Outlaw and have had the same problem with the seat, I just use an "R" clip (small hood pin) or cotter pin through the hole in the bottom of the seat latch. That has worked very well for me. As far as nerfs I went with the AC Blackline Propegs, the large size of the pegs are great compared to the stock pegs. I believe that PRM racing has skid plate armor for the Outlaw.

My seat has never came off. I am very careful when I install it to make sure I get it all the way on then I push down on the seat and the latch to make sure it fully engaged.

The pure polaris parts are built by Pro Armor, and i think they're pretty sweet lookin' hence those are the ones i went with :)

My seat is on extremely tight. I actually have to pull pretty hard to get it off when I want it off. When you put it on make sure you are under the front clip tight and push it all the way up. You have to really push the back down in back and make it snap on tight.

The little extra noise while in neutral with the clutch out is normal.

I like those black AC Bars. How are the nets on the heel guard instead of the plate? Are they a simple bolt on install?

Looks like the seat issue has been around for a bit, based on some reviews of both the '06 & '07 I have read. I will try the cotter pin fix, but it would be nice for Polaris to come out with an offical fix!

Seems odd you're having the problem. I heard they redesigned the 525's seat & attachment to cure that issue.

Don't know, but in the lastest issue of Quad Magazine, they have a review of the 525 and were having the same issue with the seat. Not the best article or review of the 525, but apparently the seat issue is still a problem.

All of these reviews that are in the mags right now were done with pre-production 525's. They were the same group that Jeff@tireballs tested with, based on the location and terrain of the tests (they all have similar pictures of the terrain). I have seen two of the mags complain about the brake lever being way too far away from the bars but on my production 525, it feels the same as my Z400 that I had. To me, the ergos feel great so I do not know what they are complaining about. Also, my seat is a pain to get off and hard to get on (a good thing) so I can't see it falling off....

Robb471,
The AC bars are very simple to install, they do not come with very good instructions but they are pretty easy to figure out. The only thing that I ended up doing was getting new bolts for the foot peg bracket, they say to just use the original ones but I found that they are a bit too short. You should be able to get new ones at a local hardware store (Grade 8 bolts). As far as the nets go instead of the plate, I really like the nets because a lot of the riding we do is in muddy areas, its nice that they don't pack full of mud. My buddy had the stock pegs and heel gaurds with Pro Armor nerfs and after just a few rides he got tired of feeling like he was losing footing due to the mud packed so full in the heel gaurd that he ended up getting the AC Blacklines. I have read a lot of reviews showing that they fixed the seat but it seems that there might still be an issue. My buddy has an 07 Outlaw 500 and was not having any issues at all with the seat and after about 2 months his started doing the same thing, so he went with the same fix as I and has no more problems. I hope this helps you out.

nytfr8, do you have the Blackline Propegs form AC? Mine should be here today so maybe I should just pick up some new longer bolts.... Can't wait to get them and have the larger footpeg! I am not a big fan of the stock heel guards either.....

eerhard09,
Yes I've got the blacklines, they are great. I've got huge clodhoppers (boots 13), so the pegs are perfect. If I remember correctly the bolts for the pegs are a 10x125 and I went with the 25mm length. The stock bolts only allowed about 4 treads to catch in the nut plate.

ouch, 4 threads? That definitely is not enough for landing jumps and hard riding. It would be OK if you spent all of your time sitting down and putting around! Eff that, I am definitely getting the longer bolts!

Where did you guys order them from?

Also, how about rear skid plates?

The blacklines I found on Amazon.com, I think they came from motorcycle accessory warehouse they were about 50 bucks cheaper than I have found anywhere else for new ones. The skid plates I think you can buy dirrectly from PRM, I currently don't have them. I just have the stock plastic skids that came on my 06 Outlaw

Cant go wrong with the PRM skid plates. Easy to install, and they hold up great.
