400ex carb problems

A friend has a 2001 400. whenever he pops a wheelie or climbs a hill the wheeler dies or almost dies and it smells really rich. He has had the carb out and another friend who is pretty good with them looked at it, I haven't been inside it yet, but I will be this week. Any ideas?

Floats maybe? When the 400ex's front end is up gas will drain out of the carb through the overflow tube, probably why it smells really rich.

Someone else will have to explain how to check and adjust the floats.
