knocking/misfiring foreman

looking for some help on a 02 foreman 450. misfiring at idle. wants to stall and back fires a lot. i have changed spark plug and messed with idle. cant seem to get it to run smooth at all when cold or idle when cold. after warm it will idle but will misfire every 5 seconds or so. running 87 octane. thought about maybe cleaning out carb or adjusting valves. not sure what to do. any ideas would be great. thanks...

Try running higher octane, see if the choke is stuck on, make sure a jet didn't get knocked out.

What exactly do you mean by misfiring? Like sorta bogging? Not running smoothly? Choppy at idle?
