i put 250r a-arms on my 300ex, they were used so the threads that go through the spindel were a little ruff nothing bad. now when i go to tighten the spindles to the a-arms the bolt just turns with the nut, it wont stay in place for my to tighten the nut down to the hub. any ideas on how to fix this problem??

Sounds like your talking about the ball joint castle nut, correct?

I have had this problem on cars before. I would run a die over the threads to clean them up. Get new castle nuts and use a brass hammer to tap the joints into the knuckle.

Balljoints are bad and need to be replaced, which is why they are just turning inside of the housing.

Why don't you just put another wrench or vice-grips on the other side?

if i am hearing you correctly the ball joint that sits in the spindle is spinning? the ball joints are tapared and need to be sort of forced in so they dont spin or you could just put a vice grip on the other side to get it to stop moving like scott300ex said

yes,it does sound like the ball joint is just spinning in the spindal.
U can just take a big pare of pump plyers a pull down the ball into the spindal,b/cause it's tappered and then tighten it up

yes its the ball joints in the spindle spinning. i was planing on getting a die to clean up the threads, anyone know what thread size they are? could i use a C-clamp to press them together so i can tighten them ?

If the ball joint is just spinning in the spindal and will not tighten up.Just take a pair of big pump plyers and pull down on the top side of the ball joint and the bottom side of the spindal. That will seat the tappered part of the ball joint in the spindal and u should be able to tighten it up.

Yeh I think you can use a c-clamp but the take A LOT of force to get seated, even tightening them may not do it, and they need to be even on each side so its not sitting crooked, at least thats how they are when I put them on cars.

Just tighten them up the best you can and then have someone stand on the front of the quad while you tighten them. They should seat then...or at least it worked for me.

i generally fit the taper of ball joint or tie rod end snuggly into the socket and lightly tap it with a SFH, causing it to jamb itself.

It's a tapered fit, I suggest you have some-one stand on the a-arm (make sure the tire is on) while you tighten it.
