Here is a pic of the CRF hybrid i just picked up from a fellow member of the site

Will be rebuilting motor soon.
I have read that the CRF motor are more reliable if u put these into it.
stronger valves
clutch basket,pressure plate and springs.
Is there any thing else that should be done to the motor.

Worth putting the Athena 488 kit in if so what else has to be done ?

nice bike

what kinda frame is it?

The frame is a 01 frontline that was rebuilt by PRP in 03 to fit CRF
motor.

I have always wanted a hybrid so the yfz was a good quad for me to get and hopefully trade for a hybrid so thats what i did.

If I'd advise one thing to do to the CRF motor it would be to put stainless valves and titanium valve springs in it. I've ran mine all year and not had to adjust the valves yet. A little higher comp. piston will help a bit if you don't care to run race gas. As far as needing a big bore....you don't these bikes are monsters bone stock.

I'm in concurrence with the other replys, put some better valves in them. I run a kibblewhite set up, and dont have to adjust valves either. The athena isnt neccesary either, IMO. I run 3 CR500 springs to go with my stock clutch to help keep the power on. I also run a Venom hammerhead piston with a 12.25 compression.

It wouldnt hurt if you can get a bigger headpipe on that thing. I went from a stock CRF headpipe with a HMF silencer to a DASA 450r complete pipe and that was a HUGE improvement on the seat dyno AND on a real dyno.

Ok got my kibblewhite valve kit with springs:D

Do u guys do the motor work urself or send it to a builter.

I have done 4 stroker before and had no problems just like to see if worth spending the $ to have a shop do it.

What shops do this and how much would i be looking at.

quad looks good man! cant wait to get some riding in this summer!! There should be some good motor guys around this area that could do up the valves and springs. I'd go in and atleast do a new piston and clean up the cyclinder while the motor is appart.

well Im back to working on this quad:(

Looks like when the motor was rebuilt the timing chain was bad and never fixed:devil:

tensioner was all the way in and I can still pull chain off cam sprocket.......

so it jump timing and bent the valves and a nice mark on the piston.

Motor will be coming back off:(
