does anyone know how to clean the spark arrestor on 250ex stock pipe?

take one of those little handheld torch things and burn the crap out of it...thats how i cleaned mine on my EX before i took it out....it was a a screen in my pipe though

This is how i cleaned mine, but i did it because there was a mouse nest in it, but i would assume u will get the same effect. first i got a nice fire going in a big truck rim we have for camp fires. and then i let a nice set of coles gather, then i put the pipe in it, and put a couple of peices on top of it, and then walked away, and came back 1 hour later and it was cherry red, then i let it cool alittle and sprayed it with the hose, and it worked awsome.

Be Careful! I ws going through my manual and happened across the recommendation to clean the (stock) spark arrestor. It seemed simple enough, remove the 3 bolts at the end of the exhaust and the whole assembly slides out. Using a wire brush/water you can clean the arrestor.

Here is the problem - re-installing the assembly proved to be a challenge. I snapped one of the three bolts. I was using a 1/4 inch ratchet (not a 1/2 inch with a 3' breaker bar) and was being very, very careful. Anyway, two of the bolts are not all the way in - they are very tight but will not go all the way in. The 3rd snapped. It sucks because it makes a whacky noise - kind of a tinny ringing sound.

I was careful not to cross-thread. Don't know why this happened but I need to find someone who has removed their stock exhaust and does not want it anymore...

i took my spark arrestor out on my 91 stock 250x and it sounded like crap, didn't run any better anyway, i lost the bolts so i slid it back in and tack welded it on, works fine. then a few weeks later i bought a cobra "jet" exhaust system to help it sell faster, cuz i want to get rid of it, the exhaust sounds cool and has a bigger header, so it gave it a noticable difference, i had to go up a few sizes on the main jet tho, but for the price of the cobra i would say buy it, jus don't go with dg, you will loose peak hp.

hey dedo, just find someone that has a welder and put some tack welds around it, it will work fine

Hey I didn't knew I had to clean the spark arestor. Mine is stock, do I have to clean it?How often?

step 1 pic up a magizine or catouloge(preferable dirt wheels(it has the most adds))
step 2 look thogh it for a good priced pipe
step 3 call up the company that owns the add and order the pipe.
step 4 wait 2 to 3 weeks for your pipe to come to you
step 5 put it on your bike
step 6 ride your bike now with more power;)


but seriosly maybe taking a air gun and blowing all the sutt(sp) and carbon out then take a torch to it and it should burn the rest of it out
