Hey everyone,I need some more advice I decided to go ahead and get a new crank while my engine is apart. The shop advised me to do this since the engine has sat for 2 yrs without running. Crank checked out good but since it is the original crank and bottom end has never been apart I have decided to go ahead and put a new one in. My ? is what yr crank would be the best to go back with I was going to go back to an 86 to keep the bike original but I can't get a oem 86 crank anymore and I could get an 86 in a hot rods but have not heard real great things about hot rods cranks. So what yr oem crank would be the best to get?

If you crank is still in specs, you are just wasting money. But if you want an OEM quality rod, have your 86 crank rebuilt with a Pro-X 86 250R or 85-01 CR250 rod kit. Or buy a new OEM 87-89 250R crank and run 87-89 pistons. Or buy the 87-89 crank, 4.5mm spacer plate, longer studs and run 86 250R or 84-85 CR250 pistons

'87-'89 OEM Crank with '86 style piston with spacer plate. Or the YZ250 kit, call Sparks about that one..
