Did u try to just find a picture that you want that has the same number pixel x pixel and shrink it down in paint till it is within the limits of the avatar size for the forum.

If you want though, check out ifranview (search for it on google). It's freeware photo editing software, very easy to use, and has a "maintain aspect ratio" button for shrinking so you can make your avatar to fit the site requirements while still keeping the original shape of it.
