is it posible to do a stroker 416 kit and if so would it be worth it?

what do you mean? a 416 bore and a +4mm stroker? that comes out to a 440 stroker, i hear they are pretty powerful, one guy on here 440_Turtle i believe has one, maybe he will comment on it

Mines a 416 bore (87mm piston) with a +7mm stroke which comes out to 458 cc's......
it flat out hauls. If it spanks 450's it's well worth it and it does

You can also do like said above and get a +4mm stroke on the crank for around 440 cc's.

just curious.. with the smaller bore, does it still create the heat that an 89? mm piston does??

I know that your compression ratio is going to have more of an influence on heat output than a 2mm difference in bore size will. I'm running 12.5:1 compression ratio so I installed a larger oil cooler and run full synthetic oil to keep my motor happy. 110 octane leaded is all it drinks.

Overall, it is hard to notice the difference in how hot my motor runs now compared to stock.

i would have loved to do that setup with mine when it was getting rebuilt, except with a lower comp ratio. so its just a regular 416 bore with a stroker crank.. no resleeving or anything?? i had to replace my crank and rod anyway.. theres so many things i would have done differently. oh well, next time.

I have a 440 stroker--416 bore with a +4mm stroker. No machining required to either the case/trans or counterbalancer.

I couldn't be happier with the setup, beats most 450's/660's I come up against. Killer power from idle to rev limiter.

Believe it or not, it seems to run a bit cooler than it did stock--probably because I'm not working the engine as hard to go fast.

Soon it will run even cooler with the addition of a 01'CBR1100xx oil cooler.:macho In place of the stocker.

I currently have a 12.5:1 cr 440EX. Is it possible to put a +7mill. crank on it? and if so what would cc's be? I was thinkink of using Falicon and Carillo...

What size is your current piston?

Here's the formula

Radius squared x pi x stroke/1000.

The falicon con-rod is a nice piece.

Exracer416-

Check out www.powroll.com. Great place to deal with. Their machining work is a bit more expensive than other stroker options--such as hot rods--but worth every penny IMO.

They did the crank work on my EX.

Actually you have a 435.

W/a +7mm stroker it would be a 479.

87mm I think

416 is 87mm. Stock is 85mm.

ok cool and dose there have to be a new sleeve installed for a 416 kit or do you just bore out whats there?

Isn't a true bored 440 89.5mm?

You can bore out your stock sleeve to a 416.

it says i need to use a stroker piston with the hot rods crank anyone know why this is? i wanted to use the 87mm piston.. hmmmm...

a hotrod stroker crank uses what I will call a long rod crank, essentially its stroked with a stock length rod. therefore in order to keep the piston going to the same position at tdc as before the piston would have to have a higher pin height. If you get a powroll they will either shorten a stock rod or install a tuff rod for I think 545. the tuff rod is the rod you will need, it may be available elsewhere but I havent seen it and falicon doesnt have it. maybe carillo? falicon can do any crank mod but to stroke and balance its a good bit of money and powroll gets 300 for a tuff rod so really the easiest way is just let powroll do it and last week they were 6-8 weeks out. It doesnt matter to everyone but for me I would rather run a short rod because many other pistons will fit with minor machining. the hotrod crank would be cheaper I believe.
