i just picked up a 01 and it only blows white smoke when you hit the throttle hard, there is oily residue in the tail pipe. valve seals? hard hard is it to replace these if thats the problem?

well that depends how mechcanically inclined you are, but the honda dealer would cost about $200 maybe more to do the valve seals, i really don't know cus I would never let them do it. It will cost even more but take it to a professional engine builder, just in case you don't have a trustworthy mechcanic.

You don't need to replace valves seals, you're not burning oil. It's probably because it's cold.

ok its air cooled so the motor gets real hot and thein you ride in mud get the air fins cloged up and runs higher heat so your cylinder gets out off shape and the rings wont seal and theirs your smoke and your vave seal get hard also.
