Master Link Question

I know this going to sound stupid but please help. Is there an easy way to put on the retaing clip for a master link? I tried to squeeze it on last night but it kept popping off. I was wondering if there is a secret or an easier way.

Buy a master link press tool then the clip will go right on with no problems.

i always use something to hold it together like a vise grip wrench and then get the clip started. and then you just gotta kinda force it on. sorry if thats no help
