will a 450r carb work on a 300ex? would it be any better then a 400ex?

on a stocker, probably would be a little too big

maybe on a 330/350/390 with a big cam it would probably work well.

how about with a 350x motor would that be the best choice?

i dont know offhand if it would fit (most likely would), but i'm sure it would do very well on there with a full exhaust and a cam.

a 450r carb would be way too much on a stock bore 300. If you want a bigger carb get a stock 400ex carb. You just need to stretch the air boot to get it to fit.
