I was polishing my grab bar today and while i was doing that i think there was some side to side movement going on. I think it might be where the swingarm mounts up. Is it ok to have a slight movement back and forth there?

What could it be? Its very minimal amount of movement.

What could it be? Its very minimal amount of movement. Your swingarm bearings (or bushings, not sure what the EX uses) are going bad. It will only get progressively worse. Replace them now that way it's one less job to do in the spring.

The replacement of the bearings is not bad at all, it's getting the swingarm pivot bolt out that's the hard part. I've heard of a few guys with 400's that the bolt just slid right out but for the most part you hear about horror stories of the bolt being slightly rusted and causes it to be a bear to remove. You won't know until you attempt to remove the bolt.
