I had em on my blaster when i bought it and all they seemed to do was give it speed wobble and also seemed to make it more tippy not sure why tho. I would like some clarification as to ppls thoughts of them on the 400ex.:D

I've never had them, but they screw up your geometry.

Save your $$$.

Try a search. This has been debated at length. Those that can afford A-arms will talk about how terrible they are. Those that can't afford A-arms tend to defend them a bit. I personally don't like them and would probably just run a stock width front end until I saved up the money for A-arms. Just my $.02.

I am certainly not criticizing those that don't have extra money to dump into a quad. I've been there and it sucks to see all of these tricked out quads when you just don't have the coin to modify your own.

Yeah I would have to agree they don't feel to great in the front. But when they are on the back it is just like having a longer axle. But you gotta do what you gotta do.

i agree in the rear their a great money saver but in front they seemed to make mine want to push and it felt twitchy when running wide open.

With spacers on the front.. you'll get alot more bumpsteer.. same thing with offset rims.. if you dont mind that then you can get them.. but if you ride really hard and really fast on some rough terrain, I would save the money and buy some A-arms..

but for cheap stability they are good.. just make sure you tighten your grip when your goin fast..

i dont really agree with what most people have to say on this subject, about spacers screwing up the geometry and getting more bumpsteer. im running +5 spacers front and back and i love it. for $40 i consider it my best mod so far. they make the bike look way better and the bike corners much better. here are some pics of the bike with the spacers on it.

It HAS to mess up the geometry.

Imagine if you had wheel spacers that were 10 feet thick. That's an extreme example, but even 2 inch thick spacers do the same thing, only to a lesser degree.

The only real question is "Does it bother you at all? Do you personally notice enuf of the adverse effects of the spacers?"

Now THAT is an opinion, and everyone can have their own. But whether or not it messes up the geometry is simple physics.

I had front spacers on my old 300ex and i hated em. It made the quad understeer like crazy.
Then i tried some on the back of my 400 and i love the way it handled. Turn-in was alot better, handled like a friggin go cart.. It also slid better in turns too.. The only reason i took them off was because they made my wheels wobble..:scary: I missed the handeling tho.. Anybody tried those g-force extended wheel hubs yet????? I plan on getting a set of those sometime...

The complaints about handling when wheel spacers are put on the front of the quad do not exist on the rear. Rear wheel spacers have the same general effect on a quad as an extended rear axle. The down side to wheel spacers on the rear is that they tend to wear out the hub splines and allow some slack between the hub and the axle. Eventually, if not addressed, this will likely wear out the axle splines.

If you are going to use wheel spacers on the rear, make sure you grease the axle/hub splines and keep the castle nut very tight. I would check the castle nut routinely regardless of whether wheel spacers are used or not.

Spacers in general suck....

Even putting them on the rear you have a lot better chance of bending stuff.

I have em and im happy as hell with them. total of 5" in back and 3" in front.

The axle on a 400 ex is thicker than others so your a little safer. If your hitting big jumps then you take a chance with anything bending. Do you want to spend a few hundred for an axle and a nother few hundred for arms or about 100 for spacers.

I ride trails and hill climbs, i dont race, dont mx and i probably will never so i see no reason in spending 1000$ on axles and arms.
