it was worth 800, sold it for 100 on ebay. i got so sick of the stupid thing breaking all the time.

I have had a few of the nitros. Currently I have two Savages, a Mad Force, a Smartech Touring car, a Mammoth, and some smaller electric touring cars. I used to have a lot more, but I am slowly getting out.

Umm, no dude. 2.5 would be the cc (cubic centimeters) of the engine. When numbers such as .15, .18, etc. are used, they are talking about cu in. HP is in no way shown by numbers such as 2.5 or 3.3....in fact, there are hardly any race engines even rated that highly. Realistically, most are in the lower 1 HP range if you would dyno them.

Yup. I hate the two systems. They should either stick with ci or cc.

Almost everyone uses ci so they traxxas should go with that. 3.3 is roughly a .201ci motor.

honda crf 50 omnly makes about 3.5 hp. there is no way that one of those is going to make that kind of power without modding it as much as you can

Actually they do make an insane amout of horse power, but they make it at 45000+ rpm. I have a Savage with a mild K4.6 engine in it and it makes over 3 hp from a .28 CID engine.
Bone stock the .28 is rated at 2.9 hp. These are not "gas"engines, they burn Nitro.

45000 rpm!:eek2: i thought they only revved to like 25000. i knew that they burnt nitro. that is rediculous on the hp rating

the traxxas 2.5r motor is claimed to rev to 55000 rpm.


I have a revo and a rustler that have been collecting dust for a year or so.

The revo needs a bigger motor, its the older 2.5 version.


the rustler I have had for a little longer than the revo. I made a aluminum upper deck. front shock tower. it has spindles and shocks off a losi xxx-nt. High speed steel gear steering servo.

for my car breakin i only had to go three tanks, one ideling two half throttle and i was done!

i got the first two done today and then had too pack it in:(
hopfully i will do the other one tomarrow
i was supriseed of how fast it went half throttle!(firestorm is my car)
my bro could not break his in because it would not turn over but we did alittle research on www.traxxas.com and fixed it so hopefull we will be able to finish and start our breakin procedure:D

And our quads Aren't?:confused: Hobbies only become "money pits" when you become obsessed with getting every cool mod. My quad costs me more to fix when I break it tham my Savage does. The closer you keep them to stock form the less they cost to fix when you beat the dog piss out of them.

belive me the gas powered cars seem like they cost alot more then our quads...i can buy razr's of rocky mountain with .160's for the price i can buy tires for the savage...gas is 50 bucks a gallon and engines are 300...belive me they seem more like money pits then quads..quads cost more but they last that much longer so they are alot better investment IMO:)

No, your standard ATV engine could not take the stress.

You'd also need to significantly increase the compression. And do some MAJOR reinforcing to the crank and rod.

Study up on the modern Top Fuel Dragsters. They run Nitro-Methane.

in order for a atv to run on nitro it would take some serious doe(SP) the parts it would take are phenominal amounts on money .the compression would prolly just keep blowing out gaskets.plus you ever tried to pull over one of the nitro powered engines?its extremely hard...imagine that x100 for example.i would rather kick over a chevrolet 350 then that quad...JMO

Your paying $50 a gallon for Nitro? 30% here is $28 a gallon. I got a new set of tires, on rims off ebay for $35 shipped. Last time out I side swiped a fence at WOT (about 42mph) and broke a total of $13 in parts. My worst bashing session ever cost me $22 in parts and I ran a half a gallon of fuel that day before I broke it. Ive had my Savage for just over two years and to date have less than $1000 into the hobby excluding fuel. 2 engines, 4 bodies, 2 sets of tires. New differentials, axles, bearing sets, 3 fuel tanks, bla bla bla.

I spent over 350 on tires and rims alone for my quad. then there is the exhaust, bars, stabilizer, bent parts, maintanence. bla bla bla.
Both hobbies are a blast, but the only way I see a R/C costing more is if you factor in the scale of the parts;)

dont put nitro in your engine, if your looking for better gas either get higher octane pump gas or you can put octane booster in your gas..
