250r rear shock on 300

Does anyone know if a 250r rear shock w/o linkage work on a 300ex?

nope it wont you'd have to get the whole rear end off one(swingarm and linkage) but what ive wonderd is what if you take just the linkage and put it on the place where the bottom ofthe 300's shock goes then put the 250R shock on if it would work. whatya think?
