Since I only have a ranger I am thinking of getting a smaller inclosed trailer.

I have been looking at some 6x12 and some 6x15.

Just wondering how many quads everyone can fit? I am guessing 3 max and that would prally be tuff. Also any ideas you may have.

I want to put beds that fold up against the wall and a small tool box and some shevling.

I had a 6x12 and I could get my eiger and two minis (one standing up on rear end) or my eiger and a quadrunner 250 if I piggy backed them. I would suggest the 6x15.

You couldn't turn them side ways? I am guessing it would be a tight fit and prally not worth it. I am thinking of the 6 x 15

An enclosed 6x15 trailer is a lot of trailer for a Ranger, especially when it's loaded.

I have a level 2 it can pull alot. My bud has a edge and he pulled a car trailer and a car no problem. All I need to do is install a add-a-leaf and trailer brakes. the 4.0 engine have enough power. PLus some. Its rated for a little over 6k pounds I dought I will go over 4k with the trailer and quads.

Trailer at most would weigh 2k quads gas and other I would be lucky to hit another 2k

6x12 fits 2 full size sport quads comfortably but if your jam packing them in i think you could get 3-4 in it standing them up. 6x14 is the next standard size around here and I wish I had ordered one of them with the +6 higher option so I dont bang my head on the doorways. I pull mine with an S10, everyone pulls it actually as it gets borrowed but I have had 3000lbs inside it behind my s10, pulled it great

josh weight adds up fast and just becasue your truck is rated to tow that doesnt mean it will tow that good. i have a 7x16 all aluminum Pace trailer and my F-150 with the v6 (bigger than your v6) wont pull it worth anything, i would suggest getting a NICE open trailer such as a triton side loader and then building a custom box to put on the front that can stow all your gear, tools, and possibly a tent or something if your wanting to stay the night at a track or riding spot.

enclosed trailers are ALOT taller than your ranger and they are gonna catch a TON of wind. the car trailer that your buddy pulled would be much more areo-dynamic than an encolsed trailer.

my truck cant even hit 70 mph with my trailer, i have to take my moms Nissan Titan and it pulls it great but i only get 13 mpg and it adds up fast on 5 hour drives. my truck v6 pullng our 5x12 open with 2 quads and one in the truck pulls great i get about 15-16 at 60mph

I know what you mean. My parents have a V8 Dodge Quad Cab and a 6x12 enclosed trailer. I have the 4.0L Ranger w/ the towing package.

I have only ever put 2 quads in the trailer at a time (400ex and 250ex). I don't think 3 would work so hot. I have never tried getting them in there sideways. Maybe do 2 in the trailer and one in the box of the truck?

Overall there isn't barely any difference between the two trucks under 60-65. Over 65 the Dodge does a little better. Really though the Ranger is happy about 62 on the highway all day long. The Ranger can maintain 70 -75 on the highway, but the gas milage suffers wicked. On a 200 mile trip, at 62 takes 1 tank while 70+ takes 2 tanks. Totally serious about those numbers.

I want a trailer of my own and am thinking about getting the non-enclosed 6x12. Its far cheaper and I think w/o the wind resistance the Ranger will be able to do 70-75 all day long w/o suffering the gas milage issues. But on the other hand the enclosed will also work as a shed for them and will keep them out of the garage.

kinda off topic but whats a good size trailer to haul at least 4 quads and and have a good work space? me and my buddy might go half and half on a enclosed next spring, either be towing with f250 powerstroke or i really plan on getting a chevy duramax next spring as well

7 wide and 20 long holds 4 quads (you turn them sideways) and there is still 4 feet up front for cabinets, tools, closets. F-250 will pull it good

a 8.5x16 will also fit 4 quads with room in the front without spinning them, but will pull substantially harder.

as far a pulling a 6x12 behind a ranger... its a joke unless you don't plan on putting many miles towing in. I have a 6x12 V nose Haulmark that is 6' inside that I towed with my Explorer for a while....

lets just leave it at the fact I now own a diesel F-250 and never liked 50 mph with your foot on the floor in only mild head winds, It will just about make you cry.

thats a 96 Explorer 4x4 4.0 with 3.73 completely empty and one quad in the trailer. My trailer now weighs close to 1800 with tools, now add in two race quads, tires, wheels, parts, gear, fluids, ez-ups, etc and you will be surprised how heavy they are. If you want to take 3 the smallest you can go is 7x14.

OK to awnser some ppls question.

My ranger has more power then a v6 F150. the compare it to the smaller V8 F150. My bud had a V6 F150 and I could pull stuff alot easier then him.

I have already had 3 quads, dirt bike, and all Of are crap on a smaller trailer and I didn't have any trouble.

Like I said my bud has a Edge with a 4.0 (dosent have the shocks, tranny cooler or anyof that) He pulls a car trailer witha car on it no problem. Here is a pic of my demo car. Which is a small car but he had no problems.

I have pulled a 24 foot inclosed with my truck and that was a little big so I know I can pull a 15 or under inclosed

Squats a little but that is more cuz of his superlift

Now the skid loader. Yea its a little one but thats still plenty for a ranger. That trailer isn't light ether.

I just know that my explorer ran fine with open trailers with 2,3, or 4 fourwheelers on it, running 70+ in overdrive

the frontal area of an enclosed really kills you, when I am towing behind my powerstroke, once they are moving there isn't a tremendous difference between my 3k lb 6x12 or our 8x24 at around 8k, they both tow like bricks

are you buying new? how much do you want to spend? i may have a 6x12 i could sell you.

i run a 6.5 x 18 enclosed thule trailer right now, behind a v6 oldmobile bravada last year (Way way way way more power/ weight then a ranger still) and it towed fine, and that trailer has full cabinets in the front with a 20 inch flat screen, refidgerator, fold down beds slightly infront of the axles, sink, water tank etc etc. so its REAL heavy....towing it was a 95' f250 powerstroke now though

First thing is that I have to sell my banshee. Then I will start looking harder. Dosen't matter used or new. I see alot of new ones going for a little over 2 - 3k But tandem axles go for alot more:grr:

My eiger has racks so it would not fit sideways and I wouldn'twant to deal with having to turn them sideways everytime anyway. It's a lot easier to just pull them in straight.

I guess it dosen't matter I can only hold 2 ppl in my comfortably anways. Or 2 in those little jump seats but that is like hell to most ppl.

you cannot spin most fullsize quads side ways in 6' wide trailers, I have seen it done using the front door for extra room...but we had to air down the tires to close the door. Even 7' is tight to be able to spin a sport quad around, I can't imagine a ute

I own a ranger, granted its the OHV version and yours is SOHC, but I still wouldn't recommend it. How can you compare it to a V8 F-150?

Btw nice truck there I see you guys on RPS all the time...;)

What gears do you have? What size tires? Is it a 4x4? What year? What is your GCWR? The highest GCWR rating I found for a ranger is 9500# - 5000# for the vehicle, people, gear, etc. - That leaves 4500# for the trailer with quads, etc. You were DEFINITELY OVER on the 24 footer and are going to be very very close with a 4000# loaded trailer. Hope you have a brake controller. Hope you also realize if you are over GCWR, get in a wreck, you will be sited and sued, could ruin your life if you kill someone.

I only pulled the 24 footer maybe 2 miles. Just had to move the trailer from my buds house to the fire station Not a big deal.

My Ranger is a v-6 4.0 liter 4x4 Level2. Trust me it can pull it. Its compared to the 4.7 ( i think I am right on liters) F-150 The smaller V-8. My Ranger has 210 HP and I think the f150 has 220 ot something. And tourqe isn't off by much ehter.

This is what my truck is...except 04 but same engine and stuff and yes I will have a brake controller.

http://www.fordvehicles.com/trucks/ranger/features/specs/#per

Can't find the Towning specs. I am kinda busy I can look later. I also have 4.10 gears, 33 inch tires.

Gezz No one ever give the repect to a ranger.:ermm:
