View Full Version : O-ring vs. Standard
I've always used O-ring chains before just because I was told that it was what I needed. But I started noticing the proce differences and was wondering that the 30-50% more that you some times pay for a o-ring/x-ring chain over a standard non o-ring chain really worth it.

I think X-ring chains have alittle more less resistance than a standard O-ring chain but I could be wrong, someone please correct me if i'm wrong. I went with an X-ring simpley just to try something new.

From my experience, the non o/x-ring chains are like rubber bands, ride 10 mins, tighten and repeat. And I am talking race quality Renthal non o-ring. Maybe I got a dud, but I know I won't go non x-ring again.

non o ring chains have much less drag and rob less horsepower from your motor. the downside is the lifetime of the chain. most mx'ers use non o ring chain and xc'ers use the o ring because of the conditions they ride in.
