Hey Guys, I saw this type of skid elsewhere in the forums. I've done some thinking and was wondering if this really works? It seems like this (the chain side) would put much more stress on the axle bearings everytime it made contact with rocks and other objects. Even the brake rotor side (no pic attached) seems like it would put more stress on the bolts attaching it to the swingarm. I really like the theory and more ground clearence, I'm just not completely sold that this idea would hold up over a long period of XC riding/racing. Anyone have this set up? I would really like peoples input and opinions on this?

More ground clearance in certain areas than a conventional swingarm guard, and it would be putting less stress on the bearings than the tire and wheel do, since its only about 3-4inches away from the bearings where as the wheel is closer to 20inches

Will that skid miss the linkage?

That looks pretty good for the dual linkagers.

Those are made by Lone Star, I ordered those and they accidently heard me wrong on the phone and sent me the conventional skid plate that everyone basically uses. However its pretty nice and think and doesn't take away a lot of ground clearance like the others.
I believe if your going to xc ride or woods race the skid plate you want would be the best option because it will offer the most ground clearance.
If I had to do it over on my YFZ though I would def. order the two peice setup.

I run a setup like that except it was made by GT Thunder. I love it. More ground clearance! I was having to take my old Pro Armor skid off after every race it seemed like to beat it back into shape, I haven't had a single problem since going to this set up. I've got atleast 4-5 races with it and lots of riding hours. GT Thunder now makes a dual sprocket guard which is really nice and make a thick plastic piece for the brake.

i'll be ordering one for my 450r as soon as April comes. I have like no races where I need a skid plate until then so I am just going to run without a plate probaly cause the stock one only gives me like 4" of GC in the back.

Try runnign the stocker with a set of 18" turf tamers... tamers only measuer out at 16.75" fully inflated!!! I was basically sitting on the ground.:eek2:
