engine back fires problem. =[

i have a 05 z400 rebuilt by curtis sparks himself. ive just got my head back from them, put it all together and it wont start. its getting spark, gas. it turns over right i tap the throttle twice quickly to give it some gas and then it back fires. dunno whats wrong with it hoping u guys would know some more about it.

You sure your timing is set right? That'll wreak havoc trying to start if it isn't....

Has it been sitting for a while? Mine did that to me once about a year ago when I let it set for a long time. I ended up having to drain the float and re-prime it. It had gotten moisture in the float and it would back fire like crazy.

yeah it has for 3 months becazue the engine was allapart. are u talking about the carb float?

not the carb. just cleaned it out... when i crank the motor and put my hand on the end of the exhaust it sucks in like the air box should.

Still sounds like your timing is out 180!
