and the post above me is also a really good response too. You can always do that. And there is also this other one that is out there that is supposed to be really good. Its called i think Velocity? Maybe

All the response are tru but the way i look at it is , K&N More air flow = More dirt in ur motor , i would stick with the uni for the reliability

K&N you get that .01 extra horsepower which inturn gets lost due to the build up of dirt in the carb or you can go with a foam filter (Uni or Twin) and save yourself the headaches.:p

Bah,
I hear people say that, but I've been running K&N's in my ex for years (going on 10), in the fine Missouri dust, water and mud, and have never had any signs of dirt or water in my carb or intake tract.

You'd think that after 9+ years of riding about every other weekend, running K&N's with massive dirt intake I would have had some engine damage, no??? ;)

People tend to not maintain them correctly, which is where the problems come in. But, IMHO if thet can't manage to correctly maintain something as simple as an air filter, then they have no business owning a high performance ATV.

No, but ive also ran K&N filters for 3 years running XC races and would always find dirt in the intake and in the carb...since switching to a foam filter it is a ten-fold difference. You may not notice damage to the engine, but a dirty carb should be evident.:blah: I also run a open air box and am not about to trust a single stage filter.

Im right there with ur Balls2 , I used to always run a K&n and would always get dirt in my carb and intake , After switching to a uni and not noticing any power lose , or any dirt in my intake or carb i am much happier and feel much more confident running no airbox lid!
