We purchased it from Hetrick. We've got roughly $1600 into it so far. It measures 46" from out side of each wheel. We've got a +2 swing arm also by pro fab on the way that takes 300ex axle, carrier, brakes, etc. This setup is what is used on most national level mini quads. The rear end will run roughly $1200 before were done.

Do you have any pics of the swing arm ? I didnt know Pro-Fab made one.

One of our customers had us order a set of arms and a swinger and we should see them next week. I'll post pictures of them when they come in.

I've got a pro fab swing arm on the way also. I believe it's at powdercoat right now. I should see it in a few weeks. I'll post pic of it installed once it gets here.

I seen thier stuff at a race a few weeks back. It looked tough enough but i thought the quads sat way to low. Not enough clearance for outdoor tracks.

I know this is an older thread but I have the same questions concerning a TRX90 build. I see that a lot use the 400EX front ends yet everyone seems to use the 300EX rear ends. Why not use the 400EX rear ends? Is it too wide, cost, weight?

The 400 ex stuff is lighter, cheaper and more available then the others. thats what KOQ racing uses on their a-arms and swing arm kits, and it works great.

So they use the 400Ex Axles, bearing carrier, etc. How wide does the 400EX Axle make the quad versus the 300EX?

Thanks for your help

I can't tell you why others use the 400EX stuff. I can tell you why I use the 300EX parts though. The 300EX bearing carrier is narrower than the 400 and IMO fits the size of the chassis better.
They are also a bit lighter where they are made for a smaller bike. My swingarm is set up to use 450R braking parts because it has a much smaller brake rotor than the 300 or the 400 and gives more ground clearance. The overall width of the rear depends on the wheel offset and hubs you use. Ours is set up at 47 inches.

Robbsracing,
Thanks for your info. I am looking at a stock setup as far as carrier, axle and hubs. Will the 450R brake rotor hub fit on the stock 300EX axle or do you make a special hub to allow it to fit?

The brake hub will fit the 300EX axle fine. The problem you may have is with the sprocket hub. You need to use a 450R sprocket hub on the 300EX axle to get the chain alignment rite. I dont think you can get that onto the stock 300EX axle. I have not tried it though.

Hey Robb, what tires are those on your TRX125?

Robb,
Is the chain alignment problem the same for all of these conversions? What kind of axle do you run?

They are Maxxis tires.

I cant speak for anyone elses set up but mine is designed to use any aftermarket 300EX axle with a 450R sprocket hub put on it. I am using Lonestar axles for now. In the next few weeks I will have a new miniquad axle available for most minis that is made from Aluminum and Carbon fibre it is only 3 lbs and VERY strong thanks to its unique manufacturing process. If I remember correctly the Lonestar axle is about 14 lbs. Reducing the rotating and unsprung weight by 11lbs. will make a HUGE difference.

KOQ uses 400ex parts, because you can use all stock 400 parts, including the axel, so you don't have to search around for three different quads to make it work. The rear with omf 6.5x8 is 45 inches if you go much wider the quad becomes over square(wider then its long) and then it doesn't turn as well, and it will push in the corners.

Thanks for all the help everyone.

Robb,
Is it possible to hook a skid plate up to your swingarm. We aren't always on a track and I just want to protect the sprocket and brake rotor.

There are no skid mounts on it but I dont see why it would be a problem to weld some on there.

Robb,
Do you know if the 450R and 400EX hubs will bit the 300EX axle?

450r, 400ex, and 300ex hubs are all interchangeable
