What was your first car? how much HP, and parts if any! [Archive]

I havent gotten it yet I still have to work for about 2-3 more months to get the rest of the money, but I'm buying a 82 v8 s10 single cab long bed, it has a wild 305cui in it right now should 300ish horse range, it was a motor my father and him built as an experiment more or less, everyone told them that you couldn't make power from a 305 and they went ahead and did it to prove them wrong. house of kolor paint.. It's not exactly what I want to buy but a guy beat me to buying our old v8 s10 back so it's really my only choice. But! it's all in fun.. I should have a 355/aluminum head motor ready for it in 1-2 year's and it should be finished in maybe 3 or 4 years.. It was built in the mid to early 90's so it has that type of look to it which I'm not exactly to fond of, I'm more or less into the sleak and very clean look, something that doesnt exactly catch your eye at first but once you do look at it the details draw your attention in..

It'll be kinda my first vehical I'm probaly going to park it and get a s-10 blazer till I get the truck to my liking, even then it'll be covered and kept in tip top shape :)

A 1991 Oldsmobile cutlass calai.... The thing was a beast, 4 cylinders of fury, probably pushin 120hp! Now, 3 vehicles later, ive got a tundra....

Mine was an early 90's Ford Topaz ... drove it until the shocks came through the trunk .

I can't remember , but I may have driven our old Ford Escort for about a month when I first got my license . I think it was a 1990 Ford Escort ( small bubble looking cars) .. all red with a black drivers door ... we retired it after the block cracked . :p

My first car is my 93 cavalier, I've had it for almost a year, and let me tell you that lil car takes a beating. I went to replace the head gasket before thanksgiving, and it turned into it only running on 3 cylinders, and needing a whole new head, but it still ran like a champ with those problems. I put a cherry bomb on it, should be pushin bout 120 HP:o

I also have an 86 Regal Limited. It has a 307 in it with a cam, and a Holly 650 double pumper carb. Should have about 170 or so horse power. Soon I'll be building a 350 SB to put in there, I already have the motor, just needs rebuilding. I'll be looking at about 350-400 HP out of it when I'm done.

My first car was a 72 chevelle ss clone. It was wrecked, the frame was bent,needed a whole new front end, interior, but has a strong running 350, muncie 4spd and a 12 bolt rear end. bought it from am impound lot for $400

Now I got a 454 in it, new interior, wiring, and frame. Right now I am repainting it. The last paint job was just a quickie because of problems and it turned out horrible.

But my daily driver is a 1993 Buick century. 3.3 V6. Got it for free from my moms friend lol. Been driving it like 18 months, and it is a tank. I have jumped a 7ft ditch and slammed into a field at about 100, hit a deer, and just beat the hell outta it and it wont stop running lol.

93 s10 v6 2.8 5 speed. fun to drive and hauls the quad just fine. good car to learn to drive in, low insurance and good gas mileage. ill probablly drive this until im 20 or so then get a mid sized truck like a dakota or tacoma.

my first truck was a 1996 dakota sport. 3.9l V6. scsb auto with no power options ex. steering. i don't know the hp rating but it wasnt much, that truck was slow. no after market parts. i got a $2,200 dent in it when i was at work. thats how i bought my 400ex :) traded up for my B. A. truck i have now, dakota r/t. :D

My first ride was an 80 Ford Fiesta 1.6L 4 speed manual w/ maybe 80 horses.:ermm: I drove it for about a year until I slammed it into a curb and bent the front wheel to about a 45 degree angle. I was still able to limp it to the junkyard for a little cash. I couldn't kill that engine...I tried to on the way to the boneyard.:p

It looked exactly like this beast:scary:

funny that the kid who thinks he has a 700hp camaro also lives in stamford connecticut, likes to brag about his car, rescently got shot down and stopped coming back, AND made a new name? and says he has a supra now?

2002 Nissan Pathfinder, didnt do anything to it, and then didnt like it. So, i traded it in and bought a used camaro ss. Its a beast now. About 700hp right now. And btw the thread starter was not me, its this kid nick price that lives in my city. He has a sick car. Trust me, ive raced him before.

my grandfather bought me a 1949 ford F2 2 wheel drive when i was 14

had the original flathead v-8 and 4speed. Not sure of the hp those motors put out but i know the tq was a lot higher.

My first driver was a Mitsu mighty max pickup truck. had the 2.4 i4, not sure of hp but it wasn't much.

First car I ever bought is a 1976 camaro which I still have and I bought it for 500 bucks. Its got a 307 with probably about 230hp. Its nothing special and its a project car so that 307 wont be there much longer.

Same goes for all my friends. Not to brag or anything but we kinda live in Fairfield County, and you can look it up, is the richest county in the country. So my parents r kind wealthy. There is a kid that got a lotus elise for his first car. And there is another kid that got an m3. Over here were i live, we are all about going fast and are about cars, so thats why we get these amazing cars. My best friend he the fastest Subaru WRX sTI is the tri state area.

has a k and n cold air. greddy type s blow off valve. full 3 inch from the turbo back and down pipe. agp waste gate. motor mount inserts. short throw. and just ordered a turbo timer. and shes puhsin 16 lbs of boost.

hey uh big fella, i live in fairfield county as well and i drive a 95' powerstroke. And stamford is not real special when it comes to fairfield county wealth. Also its not the richest county in the country anymore. Lastly i would like to know your STI friends name because an aquantence of mine happens to have one of the fastest STI's in CT

Our county or atleast my county for sure WAS the wealthiest county in America but was recsently beaten by some county in AZ, and i believe one on NJ? however some of the wealthiest towns in farfield county are way up on the list of richest towns Greenwich, Westport, etc

so bascially he is right until proven wrong. i dont know a lot about cars, but he seems to claim/have a lot into his camaro. idk about 700hp but im sure it is very close. i doubt he would lie about this to everyone

anyways, im gonna shut up. and the supra and camaro are sick cars. my uncle has a camaro with a 'vette engine in it and the thing screamsssss. lol.

i take a lot of pride in knowing that my truck is all paid for by me. gas insurance repairs etc and bought. have all been done by me not my daddy. holding the fact that your parents are richer so your car is better is pretty pathetic in my book. some people actualy Work for a living and build/buy their own vehicles. have fun for the rest of your life bein a daddy's *****. and im callin you out right now on you and your friends car. i would post pics before i started talkin smack.

its somewhat believable, when my shop was open i had a 16yr old kid and his father walk in and told me they wanted a blower put on a brand new NSX. they dropped off a new NSX w 122 miles on it. a week later they came to pick it up, the mom dropped the kid off to pick the car up cause they had it built for him. 3 weeks later he wrapped it around a pole and totaled it. 2 weeks later they were back at the shop with a brand new lexus GS getting a 5k big brake upgrade. the father told me it was the kids "punishment" to drive the measly 50k car after wrecking the 100k car.

but a 700 hp camaro thats remotly streetable is pretty hard to believe. that thing must go thru rear ends like crazy with stock suspension. and i figure it would need a 250 shot on top of the blower to make 700. and a stock rod motor aint gonna like that too much. and all the bbk parts make it that much harder to believe. your gonna spend that much on a blower and nitrous then get a $400 pair a headers? and your making that thru a mass air sensor to boot? seems alittle fishy.

and the supra guy, tell me your name used on the invoice from titan, ill call nero and badal and confirm or deny your story.l

I wanna see a pic of this camaro it sounds cool!:D I am not sure about the newer cars but my bud has a 700 HP street/drag car witha 454 pumping almost 800 HP and there is now way he can drive it down the road daily. But Yes I would really like to see some pics.

HAY GUYZ!!!! just wanted to show you my ford explorer!

it has a vortech supercharger, knife edge rods, je pistons, zex nos, and a whole list of other parts, ITS PUSHIN 900HP!!!!!

but i kept the tire/wheels/suspension stock because i drive it daily into town (only 10 miles away, but thats all the further it goes on a tank of gas because it only gets .2313321 mpg)

and the bent down bumper is for downforce!

theres no way you got a streetable 700hp camero . If so the rear end would be toast and breaking driveshafts every day . Plus the factory crank would break or it would throw a rod through the block . i dont beleive you at all .I build motors and its big money once you get over 600 believe me my motors arent cheap and what kind of tranny you got in it if its a 6 speed what kind of clutch is in it

there are people that are driving 1250hp supras all over amercia, and svt cobras with around 700 and you guys wont believe that i have a camaro with 700. There are sti's that have just a turbo and have 600 hp. You can get power easy ifyou have the right parts. And its kinda hard to believe supra boy's story

I actuallly believe he has a 700hp camaro. If his parents bought him a car (easy to believe), and hes had it for lets say 2 years, thats 2 Christmas's, and B-days, and any other excuse that a parent can give their kid stuff. Especially if he is as rich as he claims to be, then I definetly believe it. I'm 16 (a junior in high school), and I drive an 01 Silverado 2500HD ext. cab short bed with the 6.0l vortec and the 4l80e tranny. Right now with just an exhaust and intake it running around 350hp at the crank. After I get my programmer I should be pushing close to 400. I've lined up with a 95 mustang gt (5.0) and I had him up until 90mph.. Not bad for a truck..

Sorry to burst your bubble but your not getting 50 hp with a programmer... maybe if it was diesel... gas engines and programmers are nothing like diesels with programmers. You wont even notice a differenece. I know I didn't. Dont waste your money on it!

What truck were you dealing with? I saw the dyno charts from Superchips. Also, there is a thing called torque management on Chevy's, where the computer retards the ignition timing up to 30 degrees in some spots. This doesnt affect the trucks overall power very much, but it affects how responsive it is, and how much it pulls at certain rpm's where it should be pulling a whole lot more.

I had money saved up for a jeep or something but on my 16th birthday my dad threw me the keys to my mom's 03 f-150 which i love. Best present i could have ever gotten.
Lariat, fx4, supercrew, 5.4 triton. Only stuff ive done is: flowmaster exhaust, toyo open countries (285's), and 2 10" rockford punch woofers. I dont know what to do for the motor next. i was happy with the power when i first got it but id like a little more grunt. Any suggestions?

my first truck..2000 jeep grand cherokee sport, got it last summer..still cant drive yet, getting my permet next year..dont know why my dad bought me a car so early but i wasnt gonna say no :p anyway the only mods are the rims and tires my dad put on it after we bought it..pics :

im glad this went from a "whats your first car" to a big *** argument about supra boy and camaro kid. although i think both are kinda far fetched especially since the supra isnt twin turbo but the kid has two differnt turbo's listed and camaro boy basically does need to run 110 and he says he built it up on stock pistons, rods etc. we have a drag car in our shed right now. its a 1970 ford falcon w/ a 460 built basically to the max...its tubbed and has full roll cage has the huge good yr slicks in the back...idk too much about it cuz i dont live with my dad and ive only seen the car like three times but i know that it doesnt have second gear right now and it will run 11's in the qtr. w/o nitrous. were doing some more mods to it when it starts to get warmer. its street legal but barely. and it doesnt really ever get driven on the street anyway. its pushing about 900hp. just ask me if you'd like to know. although im hardly ever on here so it may be awhile before i get back to you.
btw my firs car was a 1991 ford tempo like 100 hp. it was a beast.
my car now...2001 vw jetta wolfsburg 1.8t jet black bone stock baby and recently was hit while parked...about 2-3g's in damage...dont have any plans for it really maybe intake and exhaust but its got some balls ive only had it to 125 then ran out of road cuz i didnt scope for cops to well and i had to exit.

Wow. I've never seen such ignorance in my life. Even though the stories are bogus, I personally would hate to live with a family if they bought me a car like that. They obviously could care less if you live or die. Even if you are telling the truth, which your excuse for not getting pics answers, then you're the biggest douche I've seen in a while. So you have (well you really don't) a 1200hp Supra, big deal. Go tell it to the little posers at your school who actually give a damn. 700hp is possible out of lt1 and ls1 daily drivers, does it cost alot of money YES! i've seen 900hp daily driver ls1 powered cars running on pump gas. forged internals, low compression, turbo, with built transmisson. now whether the kid actually has it is another thing but it can be done and truth be told there is quite a few people that have dd that are 600hp and above. check out ls1tech they have some sweet rides there.

for some reason i believe this kid with the 700hp camaro, but i really want to see pics. the only reason i believe him though is because my cousin has a street legal supercharged mustang that he does drive on the street alot that dynoed 559rwhp at 12psi and was tuned down 1000rpms and his supercharger goes up to 20psi.

stiull wanna see pics of both cars.

nice firebird, i think i remember you saying you ended up wrapping it around a pole or something, and that it had a straight six.... how was the 6? did it have much power, i have always been a big fan of the 68 firebirds, especially the 400s, but even having a 6 thats a nice car.

Nice. Another sport truck guy. I've got a '96 GMC Sonoma lowered 3". I had some plans to bag it, but found a good deal on a car so I couldn't afford to do anything else with it.

Thanks for all the compliments guys. The Firebird had the 250 cubic inch OHC (overhead cam) straight six in it. It was first used in the Pontiac Tempest cars in 1966. I did wrap it around a telephone pole, only 750 miles after I had the engine completely redone. It originally just had a 1bbl Rochester carburetor on it, but I ended up getting one of the original Sprint 4 bbl intake manifolds and true dual-exhaust exhaust manifolds. Then I added a 600 cfm Edelbrock carb. Since it was overhead cam, it had no lifters or rockers, just cam followers that were used to open and close the valves. It also had a finned aluminum cam cover and one-inch rubber belt that ran from the cam to the crankshaft...no timing chain. It wasn't a super high horsepower engine, but it sounded really cool and could rev a lot higher than the V8's, plus since the engine was so much lighter, it handled better than most F-bodys. I was using dual Flowmasters with resonated exhaust tips, which gave it a European type sports car sound, especially since it could rev so high. I still have the engine and many parts from the car, so once I get the room, I'm going to build another Firebird some day.

Yeah there's not alot of them into Quads anymore. I got outta of that sport cause of the money and everytime i went down the street i got pulled over cause half the chit on my truck was illegal so just kinda got out of it when i moved into a house and got a good job. Now i'm into ATVs as much as i was into the truck scene.

My first car (truck) was a '91 Ford Bronco. Got it stock and I've done alot of stuff to it over the years. Here's the specs and such:

5.8L 351W, Rebuilt E4OD auto, Rebuilt BW1356 tc, ProComp 6" lift, MT Baja Claw Radial 35x12.50R15s, Custom made extended rear driveshaft, ProComp dual steering stabilizers, Rear traction bars, Saginaw ps pump from an '88 E-250, 130A alt from a '96 Taurus, Specialty Tops Fast Trac soft top, Ghetto-fab K&N FIPK, Flowmaster 40 single, Optima Yellow Top, Roll bar from an '86 Bronco, Clear corners, + too many other parts replaced to name them all.

The motor seized back in December so I'm going to finish pulling it out on Monday (when it finally stops raining! :mad: ) and I'm going to be building it into a 393 stroker. I get to do all the cleaning/machine work at my school so that's cool.

my first car is a 1994 lincoln Mark VIII. im still working on it and making it into a nice sleeper. i has only a K&N right now but its geting more. its making about 290Hp out of the aluminum block. aluminum 4 valve heads, twin over head cam, V8. its the same motor that was later put in the 96-98 mustang cobra's. it looks like this but i have a black canvouse top. it looks like a convertable but not. stock it will do the 1/4 in 14.9 sec. It has leather interior. it goin to have two 10 in. Woofers in the trunk. im keeping the pipes stock for now cause i dont want any one to know whats under the hood. the IRS in the car helps on hard take offs.
