I dragg raced a 2006 yfz that is brand new and bone stock and it was pretty much a tie everytime or I was getting beat by 1/2 quad length. I have a 2005 yfz with alba pipe, kn filter, jetted 165main, 48 pilot. I know the 2006 have 10cc more but should the race be this close.

The 06 does have more performance improvements than "just" the extra stroke.

But, and I am not trying to slam you...., there is some rider skill involved even in drag racing. Did you try swaping quads and seeing if the outcome was the same?

I'd say it comes down to how close your jetting is to the conditions..
