View Full Version : How do you clean the oil screen on an 05 400ex?

400ex's dont have oil filters do they? Or do they? I just looked at bikebandit and didnt see a oil filter...

they do have filters in the side case, they dont have screens

If im not mistaken there is a screen inside the oil tank but I dont think you can clean it...

no there isnt one in there either, at least not a removable one according to honda's microfiche

Yea thats what I meant, not removable, but I did hear there is one in there... but then again I may have read false info...

Theres a screen at the bottom of it thats a pita to take out and clean. i had mine out last year and it was pretty full of sludge. its number 1 on the microfiche. also, theres a screen in the crank case that you can get to if you take off your clutch cover. the screen is then held on by a 10 mm bolt. its located right under or next to the oil pump.
