lt 400 and 400ex

ok not trying to make this a can i beat my friend thing casue its not, hes got a bone stock 05 400ex i am purchasing a 04 lt 400 with a jet kit, prefilter ?, dg excellerator exhaust, and k&n air filter

how do they compare power wise i mean i rode the 400 ex yesterday and it totally blew me away (ive only ridden ute's in hte past) so i was wondering how the lt power would be in comparison to a stock 400ex thanks alot and remember this isnt a versus thread im just curious... thanks again

that is NO comparison....you will chit your pants at the power difference between a stock 400ex and a piped, jetted, k&n filter z400! as far as performance mods, on my z i had a full yosh exhaust, jetted, and had a k&n w/ outerwears and i couldnt believe the power that came out of that compared to when it was stock.

Are you serious? A stock Z would outrun a piped and jetted 400EX. Theres I've raced all kinds of EXs and I've never had one come close and all I have is a pipe jets and K&N.

wow, really that kinda scares me a lil, im not used to the power the ex had, ummm, well i guess ill learn or get hurt trying... haha just cause im wondering what would be a good compliment to the performance it already has, like a cam or maybe a carb,,,

I would go with cams and the drz conversion kit. Keep it simple until you're used to it.

Just to chime in, I have a 05 400ex and buddy has a 04z400 both of us are stock and we run dead even. I might be lttle faster maybe 1/2 a length if that. Hope it helps

When I first bought my 06 Z, I raced my buddies 02 400ex. He had a pipe, filter, jetted, and lid removed and he beat me by half quad lenght. My Z was bone stock and I out weigh him by 70lbs. We've not raced since.

I had a 03 400ex and went out and bought an 05 z400. me and my borther raced and he was on hte ex which was jetted, piped, and filter and i was on the Z which was completely stock. and i beat him by about 2 bike lenghts

My friend has a 04 z400 with pipe and filter and i raced a 400ex with pipe and cam up Sand Mountain and we were dead even the whole way up the hill. So i think it just comes down the the rider, on which bike is faster.

Stock for stock, they are pretty close in the motor department. The Z is a way better buy though. The Z's motor takes to mods way better than the ex, and the Z's suspension is leaps and bounds over the ex's.

yeah we finally "raced" hes a way better rider and i out weigh him by about 70 lbs and still pulled him from a half length behind to a bout a full length ahead, we only got to mid 4th gear, idk i think id pull him worse if i had better skills he owns street bikes and dirt bikes and im a total noob.

Go buy another gusset kit man. Its all the rider that makes the differnce my buddy has a stock 05 400ex and on the track were even.

I don't believe for a minute that in an all out drag race an ex can take a ltz, especially the new ones which are slower that the 99's to begin with. The Z is based off the 400 (frame wise), so touche to the gusset kit comment. With evenly skilled riders on both they can be close in the woods. However on the track and drag strip its the Z no question. A duel cam liquid cooled VS a single cam air cooled...you got to be joking.

you must suck at riding if your 440 is even with a 400. whats the point of all the mods if you cant ride worth a sh**? the Z is more advanced than the ex and everyone knows it except the honda guys! :macho by the way i was just playing with you in the first part of this post so dont get mad! :blah:

I could kick ur *** any day at riding buddy, i bet u havnt even hit a 100ft jump. And by the way it may be more advanced but it not better the frame is weak, the motor isnt as relialble. U can say what u want. And my friend was faster cause hes ridden the track 20 times more than me.

so much for i was joking! no i dont jump that big. the only weak frames are the 03's and the rest are fine. tell me this know it all! if only the Z frames are weak then why are there gusset kits for the 450R's? no frame is safe and invincible against crackage! the Z motor is as reliable an the ex! my neighbor rides an ex and he has to change the plug every time he rides. if you dont like suzuki fine-go away and talk smack in your ride dead-(red) threads. peace out honda phags im ghostin'!

wow what a waste of the last 5 min of my life! I don't even blink at HIGHLY modded ex's, let alone simple 440's. And thats with my relatively MILD Z. Come talk to me when you start beating 450's DOHC.
