What happens when you run a low octane fuel in a engine that requires race gas? What are the effects of this, and what are the problems it causes?

more than it would cost to just do the right thing and run race gas. after a while the price of buying race gas will grow old (unless you race) so you could just change the motor back so it runs on pump gas. but if its mean to run race fuel i wouldnt run anything else.

you will burn a hole in the piston, and probally badly scratch the cylinder, burn valves, and maybe even get shavings int he bottom end and destroy the rod, crank. you have to get a hole new engine, just because you wanted to save a few bucks by running low octane feul.

you will actually lose power if you run higher octane and the motor doesnt need it. its best to run the least amount of octane possible with out damaging you engine or it performance to much and your wasting your money and power.
