Any of you guys have pictures of how to groove turf tamers for mx? I have a tire groover and a few sets of turf tamers, I want to try one set and see how they are.

A good pair of hoof clippers will get the job done alot faster. Heres one design if the pic works.

hmm, why do you do this? to let the tire clear out easier? if so, why dont you just use a tire with wider spaces between the knobs?

A lot of pros used to run that set up. The tire tread compound hooks up great on hardpack compared to many other tires and can be easily grooved to make them work better in loam and intermediate terrain. They are also extremely cheap and light compared to holeshots and razr's.

I've ran the grooved and non grooved and the mxr4's, I prefer the mxr4's everywhere I rode, even on flat track they hooked up better than turfs and left welts on the guys behind me from all the clay roost they turned up.

The klaws last for ever but i think their 4ply so their heavier than other 2ply mx tires. Turf tammers are one of the lightest rear tires on the market.

It depends on what your running, the more power you have the easier you can power the heavier, more bitey holeshots. However if your low on power the turfs make more sense. It also depends on your riding style, i like to usually run a taller gear whenever i can and the holeshots don't allow me to do that as im constantly downshifting, keep in mind this is a 400ex.

Its all personal preference, I have always liked them though. Never grooved thme, they seemed to hook up just fine the way they were, plus I always thought they would wear out faster grooved.....
