Ron Woods 450r?

I was just wondering if anyone has heard anyhting good about the Ron Woods exhaust for the 450r. I just bought one yesterday and cant wait to try it out.

Does it produce any low end? Will you beat yfz in drag races? What jets are you running?

A pipe by itself wont win anything. There are lots of factors in a drag race (or any race). A pipe will definetly increase performance, but you wont win a race just becasue you are piped up. You need traction, reflexes, and power!!

what kind of other mods did you do to the engine if any and the pipe only prolly gives 3-7 hp more than stock but thats it but I am running an LRD pipe soon going to be a diffrent pipe. I am also running HRC kit/k&n and jetted by the dealer and it runs smooth with out any problems and it can eat those YFZs and it depends on the rider and how fast you shift to when race and who ever is whats it will get it:devil: :devil:

The Ron Woods pipe is a reverse megaphone style pipe and is designed for all top end horsepower.

i should have noted that with the right mods the RWP is a great top end exaust.


check my signature for my set up.

i ride dunes, and compete in a local ATV rodeo/dirt drag event along with an occasional trip to the trails.

i am very happy with my set up, plenty of low end with alot on top.

and yes i can smoke some yfzs but not all. some guys are just better riders.

So over all it sounds like a good pipe. I am also thinking of getting their air intake kit. It is suppose to be pretty good also. I am just slowy modding my 450r. I mostly just run at the dunes and a little trail riding,

The pipe hasnt came yet. I am expecting it on Monday. When i get it installed i will be posting pictures.

Just got the pipe yesterday seems to be an awesome pipe. But i have noticed this it is running a little hotter so i was wondering if i should jet up? If so how many sizes should i go up? Currently i am running this Ron Woods full system with out the airbox lid.

175 main, drop the clip on the needle down one or two spots and bump the pilot to a 50....

Dont ride it until you do that !

i am already using a 185 main. Not sure as where my needles are and my pilot.

Ok I would lean out on the main a little, and definitely check out the other jetting.

I just checked my main jet and it is actually a 175. My mistake, i thought it was 185 but i guess not. I am not for sure what the other two jets are because i dont know how to get to them. Any help would be appreciated.

At DUmont I beat the majority of YFZ's that I run against, piped and cam mod. The last time I was there I was only beaten by a YFZ with a RW drag pipe, high compression piston, and a 120 lb rider. My 05 has a RW pipe, Stage II cam, and 39 mm FCR carb.

I went to the dunes with my new exhaust and ran it. I ran it up the hill twice then i went back to my truck and pulled the plug. The plug was really white, so i didnt dare run it anymore. I am running a 175 main jet. What should i do?
