race number question

ok, this will be my first year racing, and im wondering about how you get numbers, can you just pick one or is one assigned to you? also if it helps i will mosly be doing the great lakes and irace series, thanks

Pick what ever # you want as long as no one else allready has it in that class.
Not sure about the ice racing.

I went to my first race and they gave me the #180, and for 2007 I'm #16 because I got 16th overall in my series:D

Mine is 31 because I was 31 years old when I started racing.
