Well, I am really trying to get to go to the "Thunder in the sand" in WildWood NJ Oct 11-13, but, I have no idea what Im doing!

So I need all the help I can get. FIrst of all, I dont even know what the track is like, from my understanding, im thinking its basically an MX track in the sand. Sounds kool, but sounds like its gonna get eaten up by both the quads and the bikes.

I imagine there will be a lot of whoops and not a lot of huge air, but I really know nothing.

Ill be riding my 300EX, wich only has a white bros e series full exaust, k&n air filter and jet kit, Wiseco std bore High comp. piston as engine mods, it has rear wheel spacers, flipped front rims and nerfs, Ill need to get a tehther kill switch.........Ill be using maxxis front pro front tires and maxxis Sur Trak rears flipped in the sand direction, makes sense I hope.

I was just kinda looking for some advice from other people who have raced like this before, anything you can tell me will help, i dont expect to go out and win anything, i just wanna go and have fun, thanx guys

you are right about the track conditions, but i think there is a few big air jumps.
start in second gear, also i DONT think your allowed to use paddle tires but i may be wrong i think i will be using mx holeshots in the rear which is kinda simalr in pattern to the razors.

well I havn't really ridden on a mx track with sand other than really loamy stuff that was just cultivated and on my dirt bike but one thing I did figure out is that is that you should be really aggressive and always be on the throttle so that you float on top of it and arn't sinking it which soaks up the power and speed.

My sur trak tires arent paddles, theyre mud tires really, but theyre meant for sand when theyre reversed..........are they gonna be ok?? any idea? think i should bring other tires along just in case?

considering you well be in sand, heres my 2 cents,
i ride a place next to glamis alot, very sandy, you have to realy focus on your weight tranisition from front to back, the more weight on those back tires, the faster you pick up speed, try some tests for your self, try and push your body back alot when you accelerate especially out of turns. weight on those back tires is everything in the sand. not with paddles, but with stockers it is. what i like about sand is it lets your engine gain a little rpm at first, as your tire starts to grip in, its like feathering the clutch but your not touching the clutch. so dont feather the clutch its useless to do in the sand, just be on the power hard.

its to close to the race now, you should have done it a few months ago and say you were the right age.
that probably would have worked no prob
