Your junior and senior year grades, SAT scores, extra curricular activities, and admissions essay. Many times the major you are choosing also plays a role depending on how many people are applying for that major.

If you choose to goto a community college they will let you in as long as you have a diploma..... And once you get an AA degree there you can get into any school you want...

it seems like a lot of universities are starting to really look at ACT/SAT scores a lot more..

They are also looking at how many AP classes you take in HS.

here you can acctually drop out, and go to a commnity college and get decent grades there for a year or 2, then switch over to a university

they like it more if you took harder classes and got decent grades than if you took easy classes and got great grades.

that, and extracircular activities, engagement in school events, ect...

sure, GPA has some say, but not as much as you think.

for those of you who said that more colleges are really looking at ACT/SAT scores now, are completely wrong. most colleges are actually beginning to get away from ACT/SAT scores, and 70% don't even look at them anymore. i still think everybody needs to take the ACT/SAT exams, and do well, but eventually colleges won't even look at them anymore.

Not quite.....

There are schools out there that reject students with 4.0 GPA's because they dont have enough extracurricular activities.

Once you get your AA you can pretty much get into any state school that you want, not private ones.

what is really comes down to is how many chicks you banged in highschool...unless of course one of those happened to be the dean's daughter.

That is definitely not how it is here. I am a senior at a smaller university (approx. 16,000 students). When I graduated, I had several friends with similar GPAs and quite a bit more extra curricular activity than me. I did fairly well on the ACT and I got a fully paid scholarship because of that. My friends with similar or higher GPAs didn't get anything because their ACT score was much lower. It may be different at some schools but where I am, ACT score is huge.
