I'm not sure about the 500, but I just bought the Outlander 650 Max and it is sweet. It rides like a cadillac and the power is awesome. I'm pretty sure the 500 is basically the same set up other than the power plant. It should be an awesome machine.

Since about three years back - when I first got into ATVs - I started looking around on the Internet and asking different dealers about the ATVs available on the market.

The latest dealer I visited was a Can-Am dealer. He was very competent and told me about all the Can-Am ATVs. After that meeting I was very much into the Outlander MAX 400 XT. Furthermore I looked around on the Internet, reading reviews and comparing different brands. It all seemed very clear, the Can-Am ATVs were really great ones. I called around to different dealers, asking them about the ATVs available on the market, they all seemed to think Can-Am was "the one"¯.

I decided to order the Outty 400 MAX XT. The shipping would take about 1-2 weeks according to the dealer. I had also added the "handle/throttle heat accessorie"¯ to keep my hands and fingers warm.

However, about a week later, I called the dealer and said I wanted to cancel the order. I had come to a new conclusion. The Outty 400 MAX XT wasn't "the one"¯ for me. I told the dealer that I wanted the 650cc-model instead, the new order was accepted. I come to this conclusion after looking around on the Internet very frequently during the meantime while waiting for the arrival. First I were drooling over the 800cc beast‚ although, when I spoke to the dealer he told me that the 800cc was quite hard to handle in the woods‚ you quite needed to run on the L-gear (low range) not to lose control, specially as I'm new to ATV driving. He told me that the 650cc had more power than I could ever use.

So why did I choose Can-Am Outlander MAX 650 H.O. EFI XT, over the 400cc model?

Comparing the 400cc and the 650cc models are easy. Here are the features which the 2007 650cc has in addition to the 400cc:
- Multi-Function Gauge (including the analog "arrow"¯ showing speed)
- The engine: 250cc bigger V-Twin, dual EFI and more...
- D.E.S.S. - Security System (immobilizer)
- More aggressive design (comparing the upper-body‚ below the handlebar)
- Double A-arm suspension in front
- 7 cm higher ground clearance

Why to go with the XT-package? The advantages are amazing for that price.
- Awesome aluminium rims
- Aggressive radial tires
- Winch installed
- Heavy-duty front and rear bumpers
- Handguards

Why to go with the MAX-model?
- Bringing your friend with you on the 2UP-model is double the fun!
- Easy to convert back to 1UP-model in seconds, for additional loading space.

Why to go with Can-Am?
- Inboard disc brakes
- Versatility, 1-UP or 2UP-model in seconds
- TTI rear-suspension
- SST frame, low centre of gravity
- Greatest looking ATVs on the market

I can pretty much assure you that I have read every single review available on the net regarding the Outty 650‚ and people are more than satisfied! They are blown away!

Today, 3 years later since I started looking at the ATV market, I'm a very much satisfied owner of the Can-Am Outlander MAX 650 H.O. EFI XT. flirt.gif

Reviews of the 650cc:
- Several short reviews at one site ( http://www.powersportsnetwork.com/enthusiasts/review_list_vehicle.asp?veh=26520 )
- One longer review ( http://www.atvsource.com/articles/machine_reviews/2007/022807_can_am_outlander_650_xt.htm )

Before I bought the 650cc I got to test drive the 500cc model for 3 days, for free! Talk about decent dealer! However it wasn't the XT-model nor the MAX-model. However, I had a friggin' blast! Try it out yourself! Really great machine that was; handling, power/acceleration/speed, comfort etc. Just friggin' great. The 650cc would be the same although a biggar engine. Also in my case the MAX and XT features as well! =D

The Can-Am cost more than the competition - but it also gives you more. I'm one of those who don't satisfy with anything but the best - and the 650cc is the best for me. Think of this; you buy an expensive machine - why not add a couple of bucks and get the real deal?

Enjoy! =)
