Degreeing a cam?

A friend was telling me I should "degree my cam". I've heard of that on V8's and such, but I have no idea about a 400EX. Mt EX has a stg 2 hot cam, that is suppose to be a drop in. Has anyone done this? Can you explain it for me? Thanks.

Somewhat hard to do with marginal benefits in my opinion..

ya just do it top dead if it's lil to far off you could bend a vavle or put a hole in ur piston. for the lil power you might get by doing it i rather set it a top dead jmo

I don't think it can be done with the stock cam gear...
