Just curious and looking for some input i have an '04 yfz HMF Sport Full, Pro Design Air Filter, and right now jetted 185 main 50 pilot rest stock about 0-30 degrees where i am right now. against an '00 banshee im losing and its not do to rider error we're equal his banshee is piped and jetted full FMF mint mint condition...just seeing if this is right or if i may have motor problems... I will take him 8 out of 9 times 1st-3rd but after that he gains and wins by a length maybe sometimes i take it all the way

you sure it isnt a difference in rider ;)

more details... where are you racing- what terrain? flats im assuming? what kind of tires are you both running?

dude two stroks will rape four strokes in low end especaly a banshee youll beat him on a track enless hes a sick 2 stroke rider and keeps it reved cuz thats were the 2 strokes kick in is top end so in long distance he should have you but you should have him off the line if you hook up

pretty much incoherent rambling...

I am running hole shots and he is running turf tamers....it isnt rider...and it is flat track strait run mainly.

You haven't done the cam mod? If not, he'll beat you... Sorry. You also seem to be jetted a bit on the fat side. I believe you should be in the 175 range..... That may cost you a couple hp and make all the difference.

i was jetted around there but it was running lean..falling on its face on the top

im thinking along the same lines as sandman, in that you may be a jetted a little fat...

also, based off what you said that 1-3 rd your in the lead, i am lead to beleive that youre not as good as rider as you think... you should not be in 1st gear... you should be launching in 2nd...

now likely you are going to reply and say that you messed up and that you start in 2nd, you just typed wrong, and none of us will ever know the truth... however, if you are starting in 1st- stop... you should be launching in 2nd...

and cuz i play devils advocate and just call it how i see it, and i may see it incorrectly, but, because you are asking this question and the way that you asked it, im leaning towards part of the problem being you are not too experienced and not as good of a rider as you think... your competition may be in the same boat...

Yer not going to beat him until you do some more mods. I had a 02 banshee with similar mods and I couldn't be beat. The closest thing was a CB LTR

oh so if it is as simple as that, i beat countless banshees with pipes, filters, lighter riders, and lighter haulers compared to my heavy sand stars... go ahead and explain it- cuz he has more mods than i do, although i have 10 more ccs than he does...

there are a whole bunch of people out there with money, and quite a minute amount of people with skills...

One thing Sand is diffrent the a open road or a field. I know it sucks alot of power. I have never dragged raced in sand so i can not go there.

So whats to explain? I had a banshee I had some minor mods done to it. I beat everything that I came too.

Maybe there was rider error. Most 450s can keep up till about 4rth gear. After that most good running banshees take off.

I am sure there is some 450s out there that would beat me but not any close to stock quads

Ya you do seem a little Fat on the jetting. If you dont have the Cam Mod done do it its free and it picks up some Topend. I did it to mine and I could tell alot of diff. I now 3rd 4th 5th Is where mine pulls the best now since the cam mod.

Well i'll try some things and see what happens i never said i was a pro at riding if i was i would be racing and i don't see by launching in 2nd makes you a pro or "experienced"... damn banshees are fast though just seeing if it was the concensus

launching in 2nd doesnt make me a pro or experienced, but launching in 1st makes you unexperienced and a definate beginner...

and no, you didnt say it you were a pro rider... you said it couldnt be rider error... now for it not to be rider error that would imply that both of you are good riders, as it is pretty hard to be equally crappy riders... now he may be a crappy rider also, but you may be even more so...

the fact that you were launching in 1st is probably a good indication that you are not too good of a rider...

its ok- everybody has to start somewhere... i use to launch in 1st many many years ago...

its all about terrain, i beat my friend's banshee which is bored 30 over, reed valves, toomey pipes, uni air filters, etc..

i know his is clearly faster but terrain and tires has a lot to do with it, on the street i would have gotten smoked

If you do the cam mod, the shee will not win. In a 660ft[1/8mile]but, also the rider do matter. I do not take off in second im a rider i take off in first, just remember the gearing matters if you taking off in second. U might have to regear the bike. the cam mod is the key and its free. Make sure you rejet and you will be alright.

i have a banshee with lots of mods, so many coming out my ***. but even a super modded bike like mine (4stroke) will just get left in the dust after 4th-5th gear...

Yah that's exactley where i start to lose him is Fourth everything makes sense. I just wanted to know more than anything else if i was possibly missing some power being new to four strokes.
