400ex

i have a 400ex with JE 416 10.8:1 piston, hotcam and i keep blowing head gaskets. i am going to order the gt thunder head studs. anybody have experience with these and what is the best way to install them? is the roll form tap worth the 40 bucks?

Never seen anyone say they still blow gaskets with the hd studs. And yes the tap is worth it due to the fact that that is what gives the stud threads their strength. but i'd leave the install to someone else unless you work in a shop. Keep in mind that you will need to hone the cylinder after the studs so order up some rings.

Roll form-- absolutely have to have
Professional install -- Good idea for a job done right
Hone after install -- After roll form, the bore will be NOT be round
