its an OUTLAW race, if your parents think you can handle it then im sure there will be a class, but not sure about running a 450. I know a 400cc wouldnt be a problem.

cody will be running his 300 and his KTM85

an outlaw race doesnt conform to any sanctioning body and can have different rules/classes then normal. still not sure they will have a class for anyone under 16 on a 450 though

they might even have a bikes verse quads class:devil:

Sounds like were going to have a pretty good turnout of riders representing the site.

........Although I haven't made up the classes yet, the nice thing about an outlaw race is we can run whatever we want!!!! I'm gonna try and answer some of the questions posted. First I'm willing to run an over 300lb class as long as we have 3 riders that want to run it. Hech I'll run any class as long as we have 3 willing participants.

To the members who said they aren't ready to race, well your the ones this race is for. There's no points, no cards to buy, no pressures - its for fun. I will have a first time racer class that will have a dead engine start.

I will have portable construction lights set up around the entire track, we'll be racing on the track across from the dining hall. I'm in the process now of making a starting area, and widening some of the jumps.

Plaques will be awarded for each class, and I will also run a few $ money $ races. Remember the more racers we have the more classes I can offer.

Landon, do you have another bike to race. I don't have a problem with you riding the 450 at the park. But I'm gonna have to put an age limit of 16 on the 450 class. Anyone under 18 must have a parent present in order to race.

There will be open riding at the park on all tracks all weekend long. The racing won't begin until at least 7 pm when the days riding is over.

Come out and ride all day Friday and Saturday on the tracks and race saturday night. I may open the track for a while friday night to practice a few laps under the lights.

...Thomas I got your deposit check for the rental cabin for the entire weekend (fri-sat-sun), let me know if you wanna add monday too.

alls fair when bragging rights are on the line. i will add that my riding gear takes me from my usual stocky 5' 10" build to a strapping 180 pound 6'2 rider. I will not talk to anyone or remove my helmet until after the race and only then once I have undressed in my trailer, where my usual build will exit the trailer and i will gladly accept my trophy and a beer.

the last "for fun" night race with the big quads was insane. 4 or 5 friends all out to destroy one another on the youth track:p it was some of the best racing i have ever seen!

PolarisRider06

that 16 age limit on 450's is kinda wierd... well at least to me anyways i guess it never actually effected me but all the places out here just say if you fit the quad and parents find you capable of riding it you can race it if they sign too... district races your supposed to be 16 from what i know but i know theres a few people who were 15 who just lied about their age on it and had their parens sign... idk... just figured i'd throw in some input... maybe if dan sees you ride the day before or something he can decide that you are capable of racing and allow you to race in the lowest class possible, like a c class or first time racers class or something....

just my 2 cents though... in the end its up to him to decide who can run... sounds like it will be one hell of a time, i've ran some smaller tracks during night races and its pretty fun as long as its well lit...

Pappy
01-31-2007, 01:13 PM
The track the race will be run on is no joke, Dan is making the right choice as far as the age goes.

PolarisRider06
01-31-2007, 01:21 PM
thats a sick jump....

i'm thinkin your right, experience will be very benificial for saftey...

and like i said before if dan sees him ride and thinks he's capable dan COULD still let him ride but in the end its up to dan to make the decisions because it is his place and his insurance on the place...

outacontrol
01-31-2007, 04:41 PM
So Dan how many laps you thinking? This could decide how many donuts i have this winter! Also where would you start from on that track? Sounds like a good time, last time i raced a night race i forgot and wore tinted spy goggles = bad bad idea!!

dan harris
01-31-2007, 06:56 PM
I'm thinking 6 laps, but still open to suggestion.

I'm working on the start now its going to be an up hill start. If you know the track, the last post shows the down hill jump coming out of the woods, well before that you do the up hill tripple into the woods. Well the start is going to be going up the hill in between those two area's then uturning back down the hill over the ski jump. Thats the first jump I'm working on making wider.

how many motos are you running? if just 1, 6 laps would be good. if you are doing 2 motos, then i would think 4 laps each might be better, IMO.

Dan, how about an over 35, out of shape, 2 lap sprint on the kiddie track for us older guys:devil: We could make it a relay race. You know I get winded after 1 lap:blah:

I hate 4 lap races. There is not enough time to set up clean passes or passes in general. I mean u will still be able to pass but with 6 laps its much easier to get up to where you should be if you have a bad start.

How is this, we can call it the "couch potatoe" class, everyone must be at least 250 lbs and out of shape, it will be one moto of 10 laps??

dan harris

All other classes will be two moto format, first moto would be 6 laps, same for the second moto if time allows, if not the second moto may go to 4 laps.

well it sounds like fun for sure! Im liking the idea of a relay race. where you have a teammate. one guy goes out and races 2-3 laps and then "tags" his buddy and his buddy does 2-3 laps. It would take the being in shape part out of it:D but also involve more people. just a thought

I second this!!!!! teams of 2 or 3 (i say 3 so there are like 5-6 teams on at a time so thats 15-20 racer) have them pull out right of the berm on the turn after the bleacher jump and then the other guy can jump on in the other direction goin uphill!!!

getting ready for the race. I've decided to take out the downhill ski jump coming out of the woods. I think its just too big a jump to have as the first jump in the race. I'm gonna take the jump out completely and make it one really long down hill with a small ledge at the top so you can go flying off it and sail all the way to the bottom - probally around 90 to 100 feet, but only 2 - 5 feet off the ground. Should be alot saffer and hopefully just as fun.

The only double on that track (right after the uphill jump). There are two doubles next to each other the outside double is huge and very few people use it. I'm going to make the inside line a bigger double and the outside line will be a small tabletop. This will force the slower less experienced riders to use the outside line and the faster guys can use the inside big double short cut.

sounds like a good idea! the only other jump that might be in question is your biggest tabletop where the tracks come together. your gonna have some people doing it and the others jamming the brakes on, anyway to make that two lines? just a thought!!

i think it would be cool to have a class that does it like the pros... like make the 450 a and b classes 20 mins plus a lap.

Outtacontrol - You might be right on the big connecting table top. What I will probally do is make another path on the lower side of it where the water truck goes - maybe put whoops in there so its not a faster line than doing the table top. Wish this dang snow would go away so I could start diggin' !!!

I have a group of 16 people renting the big cabin this weekend ! They said they don't care what the weather is they are riding !!

.....Actually its suppose to be pretty good weather - temps in the 50's. I plan on using the skid loader to clear snow from the tracks tonight when the ground is a little harder and won't leave ruts.

Hey Rich, this pic is where I fell backwards down the bleacher jump in my long jons, t-shirt and boots trying to take a picture.

...............and even then I was still laughin' and lovin' my job. Anyway gotta get some more clothes on and get the driveway plowed.

its suppose to be 60 sat/sun/mon. I'm hoping the temps will be high enough to dry the track by sunday. We got about 1 1/2 inchs yesterday and it is ALL gone by 4 today!

all i have to do is bleed the bakes and get the oil right

I spent this evening plowing all the snow from the dining hall track. Once the sun hits it tomorrow it should melt any remaining snow and hopefully Saturday and Sunday will be great riding. I'll post pics of the track here and on their own topic.

This not being a district race I'm not sure we'll get enough turnout to have A B and C classes. I'm anticipating giving out plaques for the beginner and sport class and for the Advanced classes We'll give away a plaque and Cash! Hopefully this will encourage people to race the advanced class and not sandbag into a lower class. One thing is for sure, the more people that show up to race, the more options we'll have.

It is going to be a good weekend. I will definitely be there.

I am hoping to head out tomorrow and get a better feel for the new suspension. It isn't Breezewood...but it is 70 degrees. :blah: ;)
