This happened to me once and what I did was grind some brake material off the brake pad until it would clear. Not sure, but theres probably a better way

is it compressed all the way or is it not compressing?

the piston wont compress all the way in. i tried using a big c clamp and channel locks and it just wont go in anymore.

put an old pad and a decent sized socket inbetween the pad and the c clamp and crank al ittle harder. If that doesnt work, pop the bleeder valve open and relieve a little pressure

open up the bleeder and that should work

good luck

When you compress back the piston you have to remove the brake resivoir cap so the break fluid can release out of the line, you will see the fluid level rise. I'm almost positive that's what it is.

If I undertand correctly, there is not a parking brake block off plate installed. I am assuming the parking brake assembly is still in place. Make sure you back out the bolt on the parking brake assembly that pushes on the piston pin. If this bolt is not backed out, it could be keeping the piston from fully compressing.

Another option is to remove the parking brake assembly and then see if the piston will more fully compress. If so, you know the parking brake assembly was the problem.

I would go ahead and put on a parking brake block off. The parking brakes rarely working effectively (at least in my experience). They can also cause the pads to drag on the disc and wear out the pads prematurely.

Just my $.02

I had this same problem with some tusk pads that I bought. The piston went in all the way and they still wouldn't fit. Instead of grinding off breaking pad, why not grind off the metal backing a little bit. I did it and it held up fine.
